People are far too complicated to be able to describe in a few words so I am not even going to try.

  1. I like this. It takes me right back to when I was eleven, and on a train, travelling to London for a four-day school trip. Our art teacher, Mr Stewart, was in the same coach as my group, and one of the older girls had a radio. We all started singing along to the song that was playing. I expect you can guess what that song was – the Beatles had just hit the UK charts. Mr Stewart became apoplectic with fury, claiming that it wasn’t a song at all – just a moronic noise. He was my favourite teacher, but every time I hear the song, I think of the day he both amused and disappointed me.

BTW, the girl with the radio got in terrible trouble that week – she was caught in her hotel room with a member of the hotel staff, practicing her interpretation of the song… 🙂
