They’d received word that the fugitives were heading their way, so he gave the order to raise the bridge and put all his men on red alert.
The soldiers donned their black body armour and brandished their guns in preparation to terminate the targets. The orders were clear. Shoot on contact.
These fugitives called themselves freedom fighters. When will they learn that resistance is futile? The will of the Council is paramount, the greater good must prevail. No alternative doctrine can be tolerated. Freedom? independence? what point is all that next to prosperity? The council had brought prosperity to those who were faithful to their cause. Let the rest starve. The Bridge Commander waited eagerly for his moment to shine. He would be the one responsible for annihilating these rebel scum.
He watched the road. In the distance, he could see dust rising from a small convoy. They were ready.
Behind him, on the river, a yacht sailed under the open bridge and out to sea carrying those last few guardians of freedom to safety.

Thank you. I don’t do a lot of happy endings, most of my stories are grim 😉

Glad to see the last guardians of freedom created a distraction sophisticated enough to allow their escape. The best movies and TV shows finish that way!

🙂 Thank you. Maybe an executive from CBS will see it an offer me a job? 😉

I wish they would instead of recycling ideas from the 80s and 90s. We need some really solid new show ideas. Polish it and give it a shot!
