100 Word Story – Friday Fictioneers – The Lost Tribe

The Lost Tribe

They had been searching the area for days before they finally found something.

He believed that the tribe still existed but he needed proof. Now he found the ritual tree carving, recently done, which proved that they hadn’t died out after all.

He sat for some time trying to interpret the markings; the other members of his party had gone to find some food leaving him to contemplate the squiggles.

He was probably the only person in the world who could read them, but it still took a while. Then he realised why none of his friends had returned.
