Friday Fictioneers – Looming Fate.

Elsie stood in line with the other new girls starting at the Cotton mill.

A Matron glared at them all through her pince-nez that sat precariously on her long sharp nose.

“This is our latest technological wonder, our electric loom. It will be your job, young ladies, to keep this running smoothly. To this task, you will dedicate all your time and efforts.”

One girl put up her hand and asked: “Is it safe?”

The Matron gave her a look of scorn and walked off.

Elsie wondered how many fingers they would dedicate to this monster.

People are far too complicated to be able to describe in a few words so I am not even going to try.

  1. Dear Kristian,

To be honest, I’m not usually a big fan of the melding of prompts. However, you’ve managed to weave this piece together seamlessly and tell a good story to you. Good job.

    1. Thank you Rochelle, I appreciate your candid honesty. I only like to use words that I can see fit into the overall picture. I like to weave a few prompts together because I feel it helps to spread the news of the wider choice of challenges out there, people may be aware of one prompt, but not another. Your Friday Fictioneers challenge is one of my favourites though. Have a lovely week. 🙂
