50 Word Thursday – The Dating Game

“Tom could see her tears s she wrote it.” The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith

He’d taken her to the Zoo, it was her wish and he’d been determined to gratify it.

He was totally besotted. Her golden hair and the way she blushed when he flashed her a winning smile.

Sitting together in the Zoo’s café drinking milkshakes, into which he blew bubbles through a straw to aerate it.

Tom found it hard to tell her how he felt. He thought she knew, but it was the scary moment for him to declare himself. He’d written her a note which he passed across the table with a pencil for her to write a response.

She read the note and gasped. She picked up the pencil and scribbled her answer.

Tom could see her tears as she wrote it.

Then she got up and suddenly ran from the café, leaving him alone.

He glanced down at his note and realised he’d got her name wrong.

People are far too complicated to be able to describe in a few words so I am not even going to try.

    1. You are so very welcome, Kristian.
The last few months were pretty darn rough, but I feel quite better all things considered. I refuse for family drama dragging me down anymore. 😉
Everything at work still going along nicely? How were the holidays?

    2. Christmas passed by very fast but It was nice. Work is really busy, everyone seems to be trying to make up for lost time! I’m looking forward to the Spring though. My Snowdrops are flowering already so that’s nice. 🙂

    3. I’m so happy to hear that you enjoy your new job, that’s always a massive plus! 🤗
I can assure you, I’ve been looking forward to Spring as soon as Autumn ended. It’s just been this week where the temps have dropped and it’s been bitterly cold and windy.
However, I’d prefer this over what poor Australia is going through. So heartwrenching. 😥
