A little while back, I promised some of my blogging buddies that I would upload some recent pictures of my garden. I hope you enjoy the view (s).
Today’s word of the Day is Garden, so I thought I would repost this:
https://wordofthedaychallenge.wordpress.com/2020/08/23/garden/
This picture above shows some very moody looking clouds coming my way. You can also see the magnolia in flower, and my efforts to try to re-establish the lawn after my ravenous chickens had rather decimated it.
I think this picture makes a good entry for CalmKate’s challenge, see link below:
I was thinking rather carefully
whether I should apply to enter,
a garden contest, locally,
at the community centre.
Would It stand a chance of winning?
would I be laughed at to the exit?
after all the grass is thinning,
I sent my chickens to inspect it.
It would make my worries double,
instead, I’ll sit and think this through,
Rather than take on all that trouble.
My chickens think so too.
I hope you enjoyed my poem, and this journey through my garden.
Happy Sunday π

Love it Kristian!
When I come to visit, I would live to sit out in your garden and meet your chickens – and share a huge pit of tea and plenty of bara brith with you!!

I bet they prefer meeting vegetarians π

It would be interesting to see if they are less nervous around you than around me. My friends Mum is Vegan but she hasn’t met them yet. π

Bless them…I don’t think they would really know!
Being vegetarian doesn’t seem to give you special favour with any animals.

That’s a shame, I’d have hoped it would have been like snow white with all the animals doing the housework, π Lol.

Thanks, Sadje. Yes the lawn is looking a bit worse for wear, but no garden is ever perfect, they are always a work in progress. π

Your plants look happy and healthy. I love seeing lemons growing on your tree, would love to smell lemon blossoms β€ What is that purplish viney looking plant 2 pics up from the chickens?? The tulip combination is so pretty. Loving your tall fences around the garden to make it nice and private. Thank you for sharing your special place with us π

Thanks, Li. I think the purple plant your referring to is my favourite rose bush, it’s called Rhapsody in Blue and has purple buds that gradually fade to a dusky colour. It also has a scent. π

Bless you, Thanks Angie π The Chickens are lovely and very entertaining. I lost one of my hens to old age last week. Very sad. π

Awww… I’m sorry for your loss.βΉ We love our animal friends no matter what species they are. I’m glad it was old age and not an attack from a predator. She had a happy life in a lovely garden with a kind human.ππ
