50 Word Thursday #87

While I was on holiday, Deb posted this great response to my 50 word Thursday prompt.

Twenty Four


Tabitha suspected when the sorrow came, it would be a gentle sorrow but it wouldn’t be a disagreeable consciousness, more an awareness that she would never do this again.

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

His voice brought a few glances but Tabitha shrugged them off, they’d never comprehend what this moment meant, but Adam did.

“It’s kind of now or never Adam and besides where else do we have time to go?”

Adam pursed his lips and looked away.

This was her last chance to climb; the amputation of her left leg was scheduled for early tomorrow.
