When I was little I’d sometimes stay
with my Grandparents when
my Mother was away
My Grandad was quite stern and stark
with Victorian ways,
Missing my Mother, I’d cry at night,
because she wasn’t there
to tuck me in tight.
So in order to stop me nightly, weeping,
My Grandad gave me an Angel
to watch me while I was sleeping.
Then the strict old man would give me a kiss
and when I look back
I can’t help but Reminisce
And I look at that Angel
that’s still by my bed
and Wish I could see old Grandad instead.
