After some pondering, I have chosen this song written by Stevie Nicks and performed by Fleetwood Mac.
Dreams – by Stevie Nicks, performed by Fleetwood Mac.
Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well, who am I to keep you down?
It’s only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering
What you had
And what you lost…
And what you had…
And what you lost
(Oooooh)
Oh, thunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Say, women…they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know
You’ll know
Now here I go again, I see, the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
It’s only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and…
Have you any dreams you’d like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness…
Like a heartbeat drives you mad…
In the stillness of remembering
What you had
And what you lost…
What you had…
Ooh, what you lost
Thunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Women, they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know
Oh, thunder only happens when it’s raining
Players only love you when they’re playing
Say women, they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you’ll know
You’ll know
You will know
Oh, oh, oh you’ll know
Also another band covered this song very effectively was the Corrs and so I’ve included their version below for your enjoyment.
Beautiful song!

I’ve always loved it. Stevie Nicks wrote it when she was splitting up with fellow bandmate Lindsay Buckingham, he in turn had written the song ‘Go your own way’, it was like a musical feud.

I like both versions, but Fleetwood Mac’s version of course is the classic one.

I agree, both good but there’s something about the original that is classic.

Nice choice Kristian and when a relationship becomes turbulent, it is time to call it quits. Lindsay Buckingham wrote Go Your Own Way, as a response to Dreams. The Corrs version is lovely. Thanks for sharing this today.

I didn’t know the Corrs did a remake. I like their pipe & drum additions. Stevie Nicks is still the Queen though, IMO. I wanna be her when I grow up!😉
Excellent song choice!🎶💃🏼

I’ve always loved this song. Of course I like most all the songs that Stevie Nicks sings. I hear this one on the oldies radio stations a lot. 🙂

The oldies are the best. I can’t say I listen to much music that was made after 2000, I grew up in the 80’s and most of the music I listen to is from then or earlier.
