A Lyric Poem – Life, the Mystery

We have lost a great songwriter in Stephen Sondheim and I think I was channeling him somehow when I wrote this poem because it sounds a bit like a song…

Also, the word of the day was Sure, and that set me off…

Can you ever be sure of something?

Deep inside?

Can you ever know all there is to know?

Even with a guide?

Life’s not like that, my old friend.

It’s a wonder, without any end.

If you knew what was coming tomorrow

You’d run and hide.

Will the future make you laugh out loud or cry?

Life’s a mystery, accept it, love it, live it

Or die.

People are far too complicated to be able to describe in a few words so I am not even going to try.
