Click on Beckie’s post here:

Sunshine Blogger Award

About Sunshine Blogger Award:
It is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

The Rules:

a. Nominate 11 people and notify them via comment.
b. Ask them new 11 questions.
c. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
d. Display the award logo on your blog post.
e. Answer the 11 questions asked

Beckie’s Questions:

1. Do you search for difficult words in your writing? like I do. I have to search for meaning.

No, I do not look up difficult words to use in my writing. I use words that I commonly use in speech.

2. What do you prefer tea or coffee? For any specific flavour, please mention the same.

I detest coffee but I drink tea, properly made in a teapot. The tea I tend to have is Assam which isn’t a flavour of tea, tea is a leaf from the Camellia Sinensis plant and Assam is a region in India which grows it. Tea takes on characteristics depending on where it is grown and Assam tea is known for its strong malty taste. I take my tea with milk but no sugar.
3. Most of the time, I am found writing while walking to and fro in my room, on my phone’s notepad. Do you like writing on phones or tablets or laptops?

4. Where would you like to live, if not the current country?

I couldn’t imagine living anywhere other than England. Despite the weather and the overcrowding, I don’t think I could call anywhere else home.

5. How many books do you have in your own library?

Too many to count, so more than four.

6. Have you participated in any protests for any social cause? Which one and why?

7. A motivating line of your own, if this was an award given to you on stage.

Thank you to everyone who considers me worthy of this award. You’re all fabulous, Thank you and keep reading my blog. 🙂

8. What genre do you prefer in movies?

I prefer movies or films that transcend genres. The best films have elements of both humour and tragedy. I do have a soft spot for musicals.

9. Are you a bathroom singer?

I sing in the shower and in the living room and also when driving my car. This time of year I sing a lot of Christmas Carols.

10. How do you spend your Sunday?

Cleaning out the chickens, a bit of housework and then a long soak in the bath ready for Monday.

11. Do you like watching TV? What do you prefer watching?

I don’t watch a lot of TV, I find most TV programmes at the moment extremely banal, but I do enjoy a documentary or an old sitcom, like Blackadder (if you don’t know what Blackadder is, you need to look it up).

So my Nominees:

We could all do with a bit of sunshine at the moment, so consider yourself nominated.

Questions for my nominees:

  1. What will you be eating on the 25th of December?
  2. Will you be making any New Year Resolutions?
  3. Where do you hope to be in 12 months time?
  4. If you could invite someone round to spend Christmas with you, who would it be?
  5. What do you think is the best way to bring unity to the world?
  6. What smell makes you feel at home?
  7. Can you play a musical instrument?
  8. Are you likely to see snow over the Christmas period?
  9. Do you like Turkey (The bird)?
  10. Is there a song or a piece of music that you like to listen to at this time of year?
  11. What is the best Present you’ve ever had?

So there you go, I hope you enjoy your Christmas and have lots of Sunshine too.

The Inspiration Award – An emotional end to an emotional week. :-)

My Blogging friend, Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess, has nominated me for this absolutely brilliant award. I am thrilled and chuffed to bits. It has really been quite an emotional week for me and being nominated for this award is just fantastic. I saved posting this especially until tonight to round off my week on a positive note.

Check out Beckie’s post here:

The Inspiration Award

The Inspiration Award

The Inspiration Award was created by John of The Eclectic Contrarian – this is how he describes the Award itself.

“The Inspiration Award: The Inspiration Award is a token of appreciation to blog authors who have inspired you, your blog, artistic influence, and writing.”

The Guidelines

You may use the picture above as you have received the Award.

There’s no limit on how many or few you wish to award. Simply appreciate those who have inspired you!

I hope this is a blessing and everyone participates. But it’s not mandatory.

Who shall I nominate for this award?

Well a blogger who has always inspired me is the Britchy one,

A Lesson From 9/11

Also, Rory, A guy called bloke, but he’s been nominated already, so I’ll just give him an honorary mention.

Stoner on a Rollercoaster was one of my first followers and has always been an inspiration as a brilliant artist and writer but also in how she encourages others.

Also, Punam of Paeansunplugged has always been very encouraging with positive comments that keep me blogging.

As Beckie said, there are too many people to name, basically everyone one who has visited and commented on my blog, has inspired me to keep blogging.

Thank you, everyone. 🙂

And once more, thank you to Beckie, who has collaborated with me on three poems now and has been a great blogging friend and given me much encouragement.

Blogger Recognition Award Nomination

I am very proud and pleased as punch to have been nominated for this blogger recognition award by the lovely Laura Venturini of Lauravent69 blog. Check out her post here:

The Blogger Recognition Award

and don’t forget to check out her blog and say Hi from me. 🙂

  • Thank the nominator, and publish a post on your blog about receiving the Blogger Recognition Award. Make sure to provide a link to the nominator’s blog in your post.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Nominate 10-15 other bloggers for this award, and inform them of their nomination.

How I started:

I started blogging in March 2018, having had no experience of blogging whatsoever.

I have always had an interest in creative writing and have enjoyed writing fantasy stories and the odd poem. In January 2018 I attended a six-week creative writing course in the City Lit Academy in London, and this really opened up the floodgates of my creative mind. Instead of writing something now and then, I began writing something every single day. I found the experience both Awesome and awe-inspiring. Having my writing read and commented on by my fellow writers was an experience that I found really helpful to me. It helped to dispel any sense of lack of self-worth. It made me want to share my material with an even wider audience. I also wanted somewhere to keep my written material. I decided to write a blog.

I called it Tales from the Mind of Kristian because that is what it really is. It is the creative brain burps of my mind. I am happy to share them with you.

I hope you like them.

Two pieces of advice for new bloggers.

  1. Do what you love, write what you love, as long as you love it and are enjoying it, what everyone else thinks is really not important.
  2. Keep doing it. The more you write the better it will get.

Mystery Blogger Award Nomination

Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess has nominated me for this award. Thank you very much, Beckie, you are a star. Please check out her post and blog here:

The Mystery Blogger Award – 04/08/2019

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.

The Rules of the Mystery Blogger Award

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog

2. List the rules

3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog (thank you Beckie 🙂 )

4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well

5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself

6. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people  (Cheating on This One)

7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog

8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question

9. Share a link to your best post(s)

3 things about me.

  • I am obsessed with history.
  • My favourite tree is the Oak tree.
  • I make a very nice rhubarb crumble.

Questions from Beckie:

  1. What is your favourite Olympic Event?
  2. What colour makes you happy, and what colour makes you mad… And, why?
  3. What is your favourite meal of the day, and what would it be?
  4. Non-fiction or Fictional movies, what do you prefer and why?
  5. If a squirrel falls out of a tree in the forest, does anybody hear it?  (Hah!  I’m running out of ideas for questions here, folks!) LOL! 🤣

My Answers:

  1. I detest sport but have been known to watch a bit of Ice Skating or Athletics.
  2. I love bright yellows, they make me happy. I think a dingy grey/brown would make me feel low, not necessarily mad. I don’t know about mad….?
  3. I enjoy lunch (the meal that is eaten in the middle of the day for those of you who call this Dinner, for some strange reason). I really like a simple sandwich, two slices of buttered bread with ham, cheddar cheese and pickle that’s nice. I also like baked beans on toast for any meal. Hmm, I’m feeling really hungry now!
  4. It depends on what mood I am in. I prefer fictional films but recently have watched a lot of documentary films about Jack the Ripper. There is so much guesswork about the Whitechapel murders that is it practically fiction.
  5. When the squirrel fell from the tree tops it was probably captured by people on their mobile phones and sent all over the world on social media. It’s probably gone Viral by now.

So, my favourite personal post….

This one is a recent favourite. It was a comedy poem I wrote called the Ballad of Ted and Flo.

My Nominees:

How about You? Do you fancy having a go? If so, please be my guest.

Here are some questions for you.

  1. Where did you last spend a night away from home?
  2. Who do you think was Jack the Ripper?
  3. What is your favourite meal to cook yourself?
  4. What mystery from the past would you like to discover the truth about?
  5. If Money grew on trees, would poverty still exist?

Have a nice day.

I do virtually everything randomly, I don’t plan or plot anything I create out in advance. I live my life in much the same random way. So all my acts of kindness are random.

I live on a tree-lined avenue, in a neighbourhood where people nod and smile to each other, but we do not get to know one another. However, the other day I noticed a lady I had seen on the bus walking towards town. I was driving to the train station and the bus hadn’t turned up that morning which is why I was driving, and I guessed that was why the lady was walking. I pulled over and offered her a lift, which she accepted. Now I have given her a lift a few times and once I was walking into town and her husband pulled over and gave me a lift. It’s nice when you do a good turn for someone and it ends up coming back to you. That’s the balance of Karma I suppose.

Another time I was waiting at the train station and the train I normally catch was delayed. There were a few people standing around a looking stressed. On the platform I wait at, they run trains to two destinations and I saw that the notice board showed that the next one wasn’t mine. There was a man in a suit standing next to me talking on his phone having an animated conversation and avoiding eye contact with me. Just then, they made an announcement that the next train would pull in on the opposite platform. The notice board did not update. I thought that this man may want that train and I tried to get his attention by looking, smiling, waving, all the time inviting them to look over,  but all the time he kept talking and ignoring me. It turned out he did want that train, and he missed it. He stormed off still talking on the phone. I tried to do him a good turn, but he wasn’t having any of it. This is a true story, but it is also a good analogy, sometimes we go through life unaware that all around us are people trying to help. Try to remember that when you are caught up in your worries. Most of us care and most of us want to help.

Mystery Award Nomination

Teresa, The Haunted Wordsmith, has been nominated for the Mystery Award, see the link below to read her post:

As well as writing a highly entertaining post, she also left her nomination open to anyone who wished to answer her questions. Well I decided to take up that baton.

Here are her questions:

1. What makes you happiest about your blog?

-The fact that it exists at all is really amazing. I am someone who is a complete technophobe. I do not have a mobile phone that can connect to the internet, for example. So the idea that I am writing and maintaining a blog still amazes me. It has been such an enriching experience, to write and interact with people all over the world.

2. Has your blog changed much since you first started it?

  • It hasn’t been going a full year yet, but it has evolved. Initially it was just going to be a dumping ground for the stories and poems that I write. Then I got hooked on word prompts, then I gradually got hooked on the social aspect of chatting to other bloggers.

3. What motivates you to continue blogging?

  • Other bloggers who read my writing and like it and leave comments. It is also due to bloggers like A Guy Called Bloke, The Britchy One and Teresa, The Haunted Wordsmith, who keep me engaged.

4. What’s your favourite blogging or writing advice?

  • Be true to what you love to write about. Don’t overthink, just enjoy what you do and keep doing it.

5. What five words best describe you? (funny question)

  • I asked some friends about this and they came up with:
    • Imaginative
    • Enthusiastic
    • Opinionated
    • Energetic
    • Inspiring

well wasn’t that nice? One thing I definitely am at the moment, is very tired. Good night.

A New Award – The Writers Soul Award

Teresa, The Haunted Wordsmith created two awards last year, one called the Creative Mind Award and the other, From the Heart Award. The aim was to recognise bloggers who write but also encourage and inspire others. The awards came with no obligations to answer questions or to nominate. See her post here:

Teresa has merged those two awards into one, the Writers Soul Award and I am honoured that she has nominated me for it. I am one of the first, along with a handful of other worthy bloggers, to receive this award.

I would like to thank Teresa very much.

I am now struggling to stay awake, so before I begin waltzing off into the land of nod, I with you all good night.

Mystery Blogger Award Nomination

I was nominated for this award by Laura of Lauravent69 a little while ago. I apologise for taking my time with it. Thank you again for nominating me. 🙂

Please check out the post here:

The Mystery Blogger Award

“The Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.
– Okoto Enigma

The Rules:
1) Thank whoever nominated you and include a link to their blog

2) Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well

3) Tell your readers 3 things about yourself

4) Answer the questions from the person who nominated you

5) Nominate 10-20 bloggers you feel deserve the award

6) Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice with one weird or funny one

Three things about me:

1) I did my very first podcast interview the other day, click on this link to listen to it:

I am still not sure about the experience. I don’t really like how my voice sounded, and I am a non-political blog so do not want anyone to be offended by anything. I am also keen that the focus on my blog is what I write and not who I am.

2) I can play the piano, but not that brilliantly.

3) I love Cheese, but not plastic cheese, I mean proper cheese, like Cheddar or Gouda.

Questions from Laura:

  1. What is your favourite hobby? – I have lots of hobbies and its difficult to pick just one. I love looking after my chickens, gardening and also writing.
  2. Is there anyplace you’d like to go on vacation that you have never had the chance to visit before? – Oh, hundreds of places. I’d like to go to Dubrovnik on the Croatian coast. I’d like to visit Iceland. I would also like to visit Canada and the South Island of New Zealand. One day.
  3. What does blogging do for you mentally? – It helps me focus on my writing. It means that rather than write occasionally, I am writing something every day. That is fantastic. It also gives me an instant response, if people like it. That’s great. I sometimes feel pressured though, and I do worry that I am not delivering quite what people want, all the time…
  4. Your top 5 movies of all time. – As people who follow my blog should know by now, I love OLD movies and I MEAN stuff that came out before I was born. My list also changes a lot depending on my Mood. at the moment they are: – Gone with The Wind, All about Eve, There’s Something About Mary, The Dark Crystal and Singing in the Rain. But it might be different tomorrow.
  5. Favorite snack. – I love anything salty and vinegary. So Salt and vinegar crisps (Potato chips) are good for me. Also, I love Pickled herrings, pickled onions, basically anything in vinegar.

So there you go. You should know I’m weird by now, surely?

My Questions for my nominees.

  1. When did you start Blogging?
  2. Did you have an Icon you looked up to at school?
  3. What are your 5 favourite songs?
  4. What is your favourite Pet animal?
  5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?

So there you go.

Now, who shall I nominate?

Well, how about YOU? Do you fancy having a go? well, consider yourself nominated.

Have a great weekend.

Awesome Impact Award Nomination

This is a brand new award created by

I would like to thank Dee Kay of The Floating Thoughts for nominating me. Dee Kay and Roy write a great blog and I strongly recommend you visit and have a look. They often post collaboratory poems asking people to add a few lines, I find these particularly brilliant, to be a part of a creative whole is quite enlightening.

The Awesome Impact Award Nomination

The Rules

  1. Tag the person who nominated you.
  2. Take “The Awesome Impact Award” Picture and add that in your post.
  3. Talk about an incident that impacted your life in a really positive way.
  4. Nominate 10 other awesome bloggers for this award.

Something that impacted on my life in a huge way happened back in February of this year.

I had been talking about writing for some time. In fact, I had written some poems and a fantasy story in the past, but it was something that I only did once in a while, despite the fact that I found it a liberating experience.

For my Christmas present, I was given an 8-week Introduction to Creative Writing course at CityLit in London. This had a massive impact on my life. Instead of writing once in a while, I found myself sitting down and writing stories and poems at first weekly, but then it was like a tap being turned on in my head and the creativity flowed.

Next, I was inspired to submit my writing for a competition. It didn’t go anywhere by they sent me a link to WordPress and recommended I start my own blog.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am very old-fashioned (Stuck in the dark ages was how one friend described me) and so I had never expected to start a blog.

In March I started posting material that I had written some time ago. Then I found that I started to write new material daily. I found a blogging community that was supportive and inspired me even further.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all my blogging pals, people who regularly visit and like my work and leave nice comments. To old friends and new ones, thank you.

YOU have made a huge impact in my life.

I have found that blogging has been a much more engaging experience that I expected. When I started I received lots of help and positive feedback and encouragement, or I would not have still been doing it now. I like to also engage with people and encourage others as much as possible. I take part in challenges and I like to spread the word. If people are setting out to try something new, I like to help if I can. Spread the love.

My Nominees:

All my nominees are people who have helped and encouraged me along the way. They leave positive comments and engage well. Thank you.
