the RULES:

  2. Post 1 quote (song lyric) each day for 3 days
  3. Nominate 3 people

People who regularly visit my blog may have picked up on something about me…I am old fashioned and as such my music tastes are pretty 20th century, in fact I don’t think I have much music post 1990 on my i-Pod (but I’m not that bad really, I do have an I-pod).

So my old fashioned inspiring music quote of today is this one:

The original song “Spread a little happiness” Was written back in 1929 (told you I was old fashioned) but this version by Sting was a hit in the UK in 1982, when I was a wee nipper (5 Years Old). I remember it and I’ve always loved it. The Lyrics are below:

“I’ve got a creed for every need
So easy that it must succeed
I’ll set it down for you to read
So please, take heed
Keep out the gloom
Let in the sun
That’s my advice for everyone
It’s only once we pass this way
So day by day

Even when the darkest clouds are in the sky
You mustn’t sigh and you mustn’t cry
Spread a little happiness as you go by
Please try

What’s the use of worrying and feeling blue?
When days are long keep on smiling through
Spread a little happiness till dreams come true

Surely you’ll be wise to make the best of every blues day
Don’t you realise you’ll find next monday or next Tuesday
Your golden shoes day

Even when the darkest clouds are in the sky
You mustn’t sigh and you mustn’t cry
Spread a little happiness as you go by”

How’s that for inspiring lyrics? I try to live by them….Some days it is easier than others.

So my old fashioned inspiring music quote of today is this one:

Cyndi Lauper – True Colours

“You with the sad eyes
Don’t be discouraged,
Oh I realize
It’s hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
The darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

And I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you
So don’t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful”

Three Days, Three Quotes – 05/20/18

THE RULES:
•Thank the person who nominated you
•Post one quote per day over three days.
•Nominate 3 blogs per day to take part in the challenge.

My Quote:

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

C.S Lewis.

This is so true. A wonderful case in point is a gentleman by the name of Fauja Singh, also known as the Turbaned Tornado. He ran his first Marathon at the age of 89 in the year 2000. Over the following 13 years he ran 9 marathons and a number of half marathons and other races. He then retired from competitive running after he took part in the 2013 Hong Kong marathon just 5 weeks before his 102nd birthday. Currently, at time of writing, he is still alive, living in East London and is 107.

I hope this inspires you to set a new goal, or dream a new dream, or just push you further along the way to reaching your current one.

To My Nominees:

3 Day Quote Challenge – With a TWIST DAY THREE

I have been nominated for the 3 quotes challenge by two brilliant bloggers: Ang4him and Ray of Light.

Please take a moment to have a look at their blogs.

RULES:
1) Thank the person who nominated you.
2) Post one quote per day over three days.
3) Nominate 3 blogs per day to take part in the challenge.

Well I am going to vary it a bit….
Firstly I want the blogs I nominate to answer two questions,
1) Why did they start blogging
2) Why did they choose the name of their blog
Then do the quote thing and nominate between 1 and 3 blogs. These things go round like an epidemic sometimes, so there is absolutely no pressure to take part if you are sick of them.

  1. I started blogging because I was doing a creating writing course and I realised that sharing what you’ve written and seeking feedback is the only way to know if what you’ve written is any good, and the only way to grow and improve. I decided to take a huge leap into the unknown and start a blog. It has been a truly wonderful experience and I have made some great blogging pals, from all over the world.
  2. I chose the name because Tales from the Mind of Kristian pretty much sums up what my blog is about and it also channelled some of that feeling you get with “Tales of the unexpected”.

My Quote:

“Don’t carry around the bricks from your past,

or you’ll end up building

the same prison.”

I found this quote on Facebook, although worded slightly differently, and I tried to find out who said it, but to no avail. There are different versions of it all over the place but they are not attributed to anyone. I suppose I could take my lead again from social media and just say that ‘Buddha‘, ‘Gandhi‘ or Abraham Lincoln said it, but I have a tad more integrity than that.

Never be defined by your past

This was another good quote I found on the internet.

It goes to show that although there is a lot of Horse Manure on social media, there is some good stuff too. Even with the horse manure, it depends what you do with it that counts. You can choose to throw it at people or post it through their letter boxes, or you can use it as fertiliser in your garden.

This might be a metaphor too far….

Today I am going to nominate:

https://patriciachubb.com/the-skeleton-danced-at-midnight

and

MICKEY’S WAITING

You may not want to take part, no pressure. I just wanted you to know that I like your blogs.

Have a nice day everyone. 😉

There are two great days in a person's life - the day we are born and the day we discover why. - William Barclay

My quote today is by William Barclay:

There are two great days in a person’s life – the day we are born and the day we discover why.

There is no greater feeling than when you feel you are pursuing part of your purpose.

Saving River

Anyone who knows me, or has read my blog probably knows that I have a tendency towards the nostalgic. I tend to live too much in the past.

Several great quotes came to mind as worthwhile:

“The Past is a good place to visit but not a great place to stay.”

“Dear Past, Thank you for all your lessons. Dear Future, I’m ready.”

“Inhale the future, exhale the past”

But as it was his birthday the other day, I will go with this quote from William Shakespeare. After all, he had a way with words.

What is past is prologue. - William Shakespeare

There are so many fantastic blogs and it is so difficult to choose.

I will only nominate one each day, because otherwise it gets messy.

Today I’ll nominate:

https://violableu.com/

What’s in a name – the stork’s been! 🥂

You don’t have to take part if you are busy or don’t want to.

21 of the Most Inspirational Quotes

I was searching and searching for some inspirational quotes, and found some excellent ones. I saw a lovely one from Maya Angelou about being a rainbow in someone else’s cloud. I liked that one. Then there was one by Malala Yousafzai who, as the youngest Nobel Peace prize winner is an inspiration, without words. She said about making our future now and our dreams tomorrow’s reality.

Then I found this one, and as we are writers of our own blogs and have good imaginations, this was the one I chose, by John Muir.

The Power of Imagination makes us Infinate.

I looked up John Muir too. He was an inspirational chap. He was names the Father of modern Conservation, the father of America’s National Parks.

If you can Imagine doing something, then you are half way there.

Happy Imagining.

Today I am going to nominate https://journeytoimperfectionblog.wordpress.com/

“A year from now you may wish you had started today.” ~Karen Lamb

I was looking at inspirational quotes and there are SO many out there. I came across this one. It is attributed to the Author Karen Lamb.

A Year from now you may wish you had started today –

It is basically the same as “Don’t put off for tomorrow, what you can do today” but it seems to pack more punch because it has the threat of regret in it. Time is not infinate.

If there is something you have always wanted to do, do it now or start making solid plans. Don’t wait to become ill before making your bucket list.

I always wanted to do a writing course and share my writing with others.

This year I did a writing course and have started a Blog. I wish I had done this years ago!

What ever you choose to start today, I wish you all the best with it.

I would like to nominate two blogs today.

Firstly – https://bitchininthekitchen.org/

Three Days, Three Quotes – Day Three

and Secondly – https://normashilpi.wordpress.com/

https://normashilpi.wordpress.com/2018/04/10/luminescent-stars/

All the best.
