Thank you Sanah, I appreciate it very much.

The Questions:

11 questions

1)What is your biggest pet peeve?

2)Where did you get the name for your blog?

3)If you could change your blogs name, what would it be?

4)What was your favourite show as a kid?

10)If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your life?

My Answers

  1. People not indicating (using turn signals) when driving. It is stupid and arrogant not to tell other people what you are going to do, it is a safety device to help saves lives. Use them!
  2. It just came into my head.
  3. I wouldn’t, I like the name of my blog.
  4. There were lots of shows that I loved, but one of them was called Catweazle.

5. Oh lots, too many to tell. One of them is if I see a chair not tucked in under the table, I have to go and tuck it in. Even if I’m in a restaurant.

6. Autumn has some lovely, earthy scents. I also love the fresh clean smell of Winter. My favourite though is the fresh, green smell of Spring.

7. Easter is my favourite holiday because it is in my favourite season. Usually the weather is starting to brighten up and all the Daffodils are out.

8. I do a mixture of writing it down and typing straight onto the screen.

9. I don’t watch much TV. I tend to watch old films on DVD.

10. I would travel, garden, blog and drink lots of tea. So pretty much what I do now.

11. My Imagination or my sense of humour, on or the other, or both.

Liebster Award Nomination

I have been nominated for this award by Rue202 of Racheal’s Novels

Please go and check out her blog by clicking on the like and say Hi from me 🙂

  • Acknowledge the blogger that gave it to you and display the award
  • Answer 11 questions that the blogger gave you
  • Give 11 random thoughts about yourself
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers and notify them of their nomination
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions

The origins of this award are as follows:

“This award is meant to encourage new bloggers. From The Global Aussie: “The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011.  Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.”  The award initially focused on bloggers with less than 2000 followers, but as its popularity increased this number has gone down to 200.”

However, I am assured that this 200 is merely a guideline and not a hard and fast rule, because, let’s be honest, who wants to spend ages checking out how many followers a blogger has?

I have made some effort to try to choose those bloggers who do accept awards and do not have thousands of followers.

The Questions set by Rue202 of Racheal’s Novels

  1. There are seven crows on a tree. You shoot one. How many are left?  –  OK, I’m answering NONE because I shot the bullet at the tree instead. I like crows, they are clever, I’d never shoot one.
  2. How many times can you subtract 6 from 30?  – I am not particularly good at Maths but if I remember rightly 5 x 6 = 30 so I am going with 5.
  3. I am in everything, but not in anything. What am I?  – I know, it’s that bloody terrible actor who I can’t stand and seems to be in absolutely EVERYTHING but it’sn in ANYTHING I’d choose to watch. (You know the one I mean).
  4. When is it bad luck to be followed by a big black cat?  – When it’s hungry.
  5. Who was the fastest runner in the whole world? – I didn’t catch her name, she was too fast for me.
  6. Betty rode into town on Friday, and rode out again two days later, on Friday. How? – Because Friday is the name of her Magic Elephant that she was riding on.
  7. What word is always spelt incorrectly? – The word Incorrectly, of course.
  8. What occurs once in a minute, twice in a moment, and never in a thousand years? – I would say, the letter M.
  9. I am the beginning of the end, the end of every place. I am the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space. What am I? – The Letter E.
  10. You are on an island in the middle of a lake. The lake is in a remote part of the country and there has never been a bridge connecting the island to the mainland. Every day a tractor and wagon give hay rides around the island. Puzzled as to how the tractor had gotten onto the island, you ask around and find out that the tractor was not transported to the island by boat or by air. Nor was it built on the island. Explain how the tractor got there? –  The water isn’t deep so It drove across.
  11. What six letter word when you take away one letter leaves twelve? – I don’t know, You’ve got me here, oh no, wait, I think it is the word DOZENS, when you take away the S it leaves twelve.

Great questions, I enjoyed those.

So 11 random things about me.

  1. I hate maths and am very slow at it.
  2. I like writing
  3. I detest Coffee
  4. I hate crowds
  5. I love trees
  6. I love Springtime
  7. I don’t like it when temperatures exceed 27 degrees centigrade (80 Fahrenheit).
  8. I’m a November born Sagittarius (they’re the ones with Magical powers).
  9. I am very easily scared and so do not read or watch any Horror. I recently wrote my own Horror story in tribute to Halloween and I really struggled to write it, and as I don’t read or watch it, I have no idea if it is actually scary or not….. Maybe you’d like to read it and let me know.

10) My favourite beverage is a cup of tea. English Breakfast or Assam, with milk but no sugar (remember that in case I happen to pop by 😉 )

11) I love dogs but have never had one. One day I would love to have a dog, a Corgi, Miniature Schnauzer, Schnoodle, Collie, well almost any dog really.

The Liebster Award Nomination – A bit late, sorry.

Liebster Award 2018 nominations: Give answers and ask questions to participate

a couple of days ago I was nominated for this award by Moumita De Sarkar of Perceptions Unplugged, see here for the post:

Go and check your spam folder, you may have messages that have accidentally ended up in there. I try to check it at least weekly now, just in case.

Thank you Moumita De Sarkar for nominating me.

The Liebster Award is an award that exists only on the internet and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

The Official Rules of the Liebster Award 2018

So why am I passionate about blogging?

Well I’m not sure I am passionate about it, I’m a cold blooded Englishman and as such am only passionate about two things, A Cup of Tea and the Weather. I do have to admit though that Blogging has become a bit of an addiction for me. I am enjoying it immensely and much more than I ever would have thought possible. It is the act of sharing a story or poem with with world, then receiving helpful and positive comments and a few likes. I suppose it strokes my ego. I have also enjoyed talking and interacting with people from all around the world, reading what others have put on their blogs and leaving my comments. IT is a much more friendly, supportive and engaging experience than I ever would have thought.

Thank you fellow bloggers for making this experience so fulfilling.

Interestingly, Moumita has said something very similar on her post, go and see.

Ten Random Facts about Me – I am confiding in you, so that makes YOU my confidant.

  1. I love trees.
  2. I have a Ginkgo Biloba tree in the garden (See picture of some Ginkgo leaves)Image result for ginkgo biloba tree free picture
  3. I do not like temperatures to go above 27 degrees centigrade (80 Fahrenheit)
  4. I like travelling to places and learning about their culture, what makes them different and interesting.
  5. I love coming home.
  6. I love tea, proper tea, which is the leaf of the Camellia Sinensis plant.
  7. I detest Coffee, even the smell of it makes me feel queasy.
  8. I am fascinated by History.
  9. I have never been to the Continents of North or South America.
  10. I keep pet chickens.

Moumita has set some questions which I will answer.

What is that one thing you hate doing the most and yet need to do it often?

Tidying up, House work in general. Eventually It gets to a level that I can’t tolerate any longer and I do a blitz of it. Also if I have friends or family coming round for tea then I tidy up too.

Who is that one person you would like to thank for standing beside you in times of need?

My Partner is one, and the other is my Mother, gosh that woman has had a lot to put up with over the years. 🙂

What is the advice you wish you had followed in life?

Don’t worry so much. Just get on a do it. It is better to do something than sit there worrying about it and not doing anything at all.

Also Start blogging, it’s great fun.

If you are given a chance to rewrite the ending of any novel, which one would it be?

There was a series of books, called the Wheel of Time series, that I started reading back in 1994. The last book came out a couple of years ago and at the end one of my favourite characters dies, and another character that you think is going to die ends up surviving but in an altered state. To be frank, I though the ending was a huge let down. To make matters worse the author, Robert Jordan, died before the last couple of books were finished and so another author finished them off using his notes. I think sometimes that the ending wasn’t what the original author intended.

What do you look forward to read when you follow another blog?

I keep an open mind. I like to read stories that take me off on a journey or make me think. I like poetry that does that too. I don’t like anything too abstract though. I like the fact that there is a wealth of different material out there.

Are you a selfie lover?

No, with my face, NO. I prefer photos of the scenery around me.

What will you prefer to do the most – travel to an unknown location or read an interesting book with a cup of coffee?

Travel to somewhere I haven’t been to, then come home and have a cup of tea.

Have you ever judged someone entirely by his/her physical appearance?

I make judgements all the time. I think it is human nature to try to protect us. I don’t think that is the problem, it is failing to adjust your initial impression or not allowing someone the chance to make an impression of their own. I always keep an open mind. I judge much more on behaviour than on appearance.

What were your expectations when you published the first post in your blog?

I had no idea what would happen. Would I get a message saying ‘what on earth are you doing on here, you clearly have no talent’ ? I didn’t know. Thankfully I didn’t get any negative comments at all. At first I only got a few views but that has rapidly increased.

What is that one (good/bad) habit that has stuck with you since you were a kid?

I think I am pretty much the same person I was when I was a Kid, with the same faults and same virtues. I talk too much, I am never as Succinct as I should be and I am very trusting.

You can’t stop laughing when you think today about an incident that happened few years back. What is it?

I wish I could think of something. I find humour in lots of things but I don’t tend to remember them.

Liebster Award Nomination

I have been kindly and generously nominated for this award by The Haunted Wordsmith, see the link below and check out her blog. She also does daily triple word prompts that are really fun.

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer 11 questions about yourself provided by you nominator—or 11 random facts
  • Nominate 5-11 fellow bloggers with fewer than 1000 followers who you think deserve the award
  • Create a new list of questions for your nominees
  • List the rules in your post
  • Let your nominees know of your nomination personally

Questions posed by The Haunted Wordsmith:

  1. If you could be any animal, what would it be?
  2. Do you believe in fairy tales?
  3. What is your favorite movie/tv show?
  4. What are you reading right now?
  5. What is one movie people would be surprised to learn you like?
  6. If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?
  7. What advice would you give your younger self?
  8. If you could swap blogs with someone, who would it be?
  9. Name three places anywhere in the Universe that you would like to see up close.
  10. Dog, cat, fish, bird, reptile, small mammal, or no pet at all?

My Answers:

  1. A Raven, It will be nice to be able to fly and also most people are scared of them, a bit. They do seem to be the stuff of Nightmares.
  2. Yes, absolutely. Life is a fairy tale, there are goodies and baddies and great stuff happens and stepmothers are usually not very nice (except for you of course, if you are reading this and happen to be a stepmother).
  3. I have a few favourite movies and TV shows. Father Ted was one of my favourite comedies, along with Blackadder and The Good Life (If you don’t know them, look them up) and I am an avid fan of the Simpsons.
  4. I am currently rereading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Just read Agatha Christie Halloween Party.
  5. I love old movies, really old movies, like Gone with the Wind and All about Eve, Kind hearts and coronets and The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, so it surprises people to see in my DVD collection, along with these golden oldies, There Something about Mary. It makes me cry with laughter from  beginning to end. Although it’s probably getting a bit old now…
  6. Oh, I don’t really know. I’m happy being me. Someone else would be too much of a climbdown 😉
  7. I would tell myself not to be so worried all the time. Most things work out OK. Also Stop procrastinating and work harder!
  8. Again, like question 6, everyone’s blogs are so unique, I don’t think I would swap with anyone, but please don’t construe that as not liking other  blogs, there are lots of blogs out there that I think are really fantastic, but I don’t think you can ever copy someone else’s style, you have to make your own.
  9. The Rings of Saturn, Macchu Picchu and Atlantis (I’m sure it still exists somewhere out there).
  10. I currently have chickens, which I would not give up, but I would LOVE a dog.

Now for my Nominees. To be frank, I can’t be bothered to find out how many followers a blogger has before I nominate them. So here are some Blogs that I like.

Liebster Award Nomination

Wow, this is fantastic! I have been nominated for the Liebster award by that fantastic bloke

Liebster Award – Nomination 8

His blog is amazingly diverse from poems, dog and cat interviews, entertaining stories and quotes of the day. Some of his poems are a bit near the knuckle, he knows the one I mean… 🙂 but they are always entertaining. Thank you for the nomination.

The Rules

  1. Acknowledge the blog who nominated you
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator asked
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers.
  4. Ask them 11 questions.
  5. Let them know you have nominated them.

Questions from Guy called Bloke:
1] WhAt is the WEirDeSt thing about you?

I can’t choose, there are so many. I am really talkative but sometimes find it hard to talk if there are lots of people around me, so some people know me as that quiet guy and others think I am that outgoing person. I am both. Eye contact is a thing too. I either end up giving too much eye contact so people think I am trying to scare them, or end up talking to the ceiling. Hopefully people just see me smiling and know I am trying.

2] If you had a choice to be haunted by a ghost, who would you pick and why?

Probably the ghost of someone nice but interesting, who I could have a good chat to. I can’t think of anyone offhand though…

3] Which cartoon character do you resemble the most??

I don’t really know. People used to say I looked like Animal from the Muppets.

4] Is there anything orange within 10 feet of you right now? WHAT???

The cover of the book ‘A Short History of the World’ by Geoffrey Blainey. (not sure if I have actually read it.)

5] John Belushi in Animal House 1978 is a classic, however if you haven’t seen it, nor care for it, well it isn’t! However the question IS have you ever been involved in a Food Fight?? Fess up, how, when , why?

I did have a food fight at University. I remember coming back from a night out with some friends and I announced that I was sober enough to cook us all a fried breakfast, it was 2am. I was right, as it turned out. I cooked us all an amazing breakfast with lots of tomato ketchup. Then one of the guys who’s room was in the same building and we shared the kitchen with, came back from having a few drinks. He was a bit more worse for wear than I was. He opened the fridge and began eating a bowl of custard that he managed to get all down him. Well, we laughed. So he started, playfully and drunkenly throwing custard at us. So we threw tomato ketchup at him and then it turned into a full on food fight. Both Custard and tomato ketchup feel really horrible drying on your skin, and so I decided to take a shower. Unfortunately play time for my mates hadn’t ended and they sneaked into the bathroom and took my clothes while I was in the shower. They then used the keys in my trouser pocket to lock my bedroom door and took my clothes and keys into the kitchen where they waited for me with a camera at the ready.

I managed to find someone’s rugby sock to preserve my dignity….I know the photos are waiting somewhere for me to become worth blackmailing.
9] Have you figured it out yet and if so what is the point? That’s the question, not 2 B or not 2 B but the point?

Yes. There is no purpose at all. The train doesn’t go anywhere; just enjoy the ride.

10] Which was better, above or below and why? And if Neither, show us yours!

I prefer Cars By Gary Numan, but the video didn’t work. I liked more tune, and it has an interesting tune. It also takes me back to when I used to hear it in the early 80’s when I was a wee lad.

11] What is the opposite to being scared of heights?

Afraid of Pits and holes. Seems like a perfectly sensible phobia to me.

Answers please on the back of a used sock!

I am sorry for not replying on a used sock, they were all in the wash.

My Questions for my nominees:

  1. Name a tree, plant or flower that you really like.
  2. Do you have any simple recipes that have been handed down in your family? If so, share one.

  5. Is there a song that takes you back to your childhood? If so name it.
  6. Name the movie you have watched the most times.
  7. If zombies came through your front door and you had to make a run through your back door and only had time to grab one thing to take with you, what would it be?
