What do you see – A Fallen Leaf

This poem was written for Helene Vaillant’s ‘What do you see’ picture challenge:

What do you See? May 21/2019

Like a fallen leaf

lying on the forest floor,

my pride in tatters,

wondering what my future has in store.

Naked in the wilderness,

gnawed by grubs of doubt,

now you left me lying here,

what is this life about?

So charming, you enticed me

but the years revealed the truth,

your hateful lies, my tortured cries,

have robbed me of my youth.

My blind desires may have been

a factor in my fall.

but knowing me for all these years,

how could you be so cruel?

I know I’ll rise above this,

emerge a butterfly from my grief,

but now, I lay discarded here,

like a fallen leaf.

Life Is like a child’s game

Without a match, the future’s blind.

The rules for everyone are just the same.

You must seek and ye shall find.

Comedy of Life – A lyrical Poem.

When Life is getting too dark and deep,

and it seems there’s no reason, no rule.

Remember life is just one big joke,

we’re the audience and you’re the fool.

So laugh at the world

it’s crazy, it’s true

just fall about laughing,

then pick yourself up

and begin anew.

When it seems nothing is going right,

and everything is getting you down,

remember life is a comedy

laugh anyway, because you’re the clown.

So Laugh at the world,

it’s crazy, it’s true

fall about laughing,

only laughter will see you through.

Adventurous Soul – A very short poem.

To Travel on life’s adventurous road,

with the wind in my sails and feeling freed,

after years of being trapped, my passage, slowed

I’m determined to go forward with all God’s speed.

There’s no greater delight for our struggling soul,

than to finally see the light and achieve a substantial goal.

FOWC with Fandango — Prone

I’m prone to reminisce

about bygone days spent

in rapturous bliss

as sunshine bathed

my youthful face

Those days are gone,

That time, that place.

And now the truth

Appears before my eyes,

Life is just one big compromise.

A Picture by the Sea – A poem for Kreative Kue 210

P1020155a

This poem was written for the Kreative Kue challenge, see the link below:

I think that it is such a great picture, evocative and poignant. I hope my poem does this picture justice.

I took a picture of you,

Standing in the sea,

the water lapping at your feet,

as you smiled up at me.

Those days were simply perfect,

Though we didn’t know it then,

That life, as often happens,

Would change and change again.

Not long after the picture was taken,

I said farewell to you,

I watched you sail from my life

I cried for a week or two.

That seems a lifetime ago,

In many ways it was,

Our lives have drifted far apart,

And I’m to blame, because,

I left those words unspoken,

I didn’t tell you how I felt,

And that’s why our lives were broken

By the bitter hand, fate dealt.

Each and every day I wander,

By the water’s edge, I lurk,

Gazing at the sea that took you

Into the darkness and the murk.

It’s here I took a picture of you,

Standing in that sea,

How I wish that here and now,

You were smiling next to me.

Life’s Restless River – A thoughtful poem.

Sometimes Life is rather like
Clutching a splinter of wood
To stop yourself drowning
In a river of your own
memories.
The Iron shoes of regrets
Pulling you down,
While you remain ever hopeful
Your meagre splinter,
Will carry you onwards,
To your dreams.

The journey is instrumental
To appreciate the final destination.

Kira’s Sunday Scribbles – Realising Life’s futility.

In a desolate lumber less landscape

We climb a mountain of our immature dreams

only to ski into the mouth of a monster,

life is never quite what it seems.

The Word: REAPER.

Through the labyrinth of your mind

To the depths of your soul,

You’ll find life easier if you’re kind,

Whatever your destiny or your goal.

As you wend your way through life,

Sow seeds of love as you go,

For life can be full of fun or strife,

But you tend to reap more of what you sow.

In humility bow your head,

The reaper comes to take you,

To the final lands of the dead,

From where your soul returns anew.
