A Life on the Edge – A multiple word prompts poem / Double Limerick

I’m living my life on the edge,

I’ve promised and given my pledge,

It may come as a surprise,

But believe me, it’s wise,

Don’t accept the thin end of the wedge

I’ve decided to follow my dreams

No matter how far the extremes

I’ll dance and I’ll revel,

Rules can go to the devil,

There much more to life than it seems.

A multiple Word Prompt Poem – Mayhem Released.

I asked my Mentor, which way is due west?

My compass was far from the best,

But he’d been drinking Sambuca

and pulled out his bazooka,

I don’t think I’d ever seen him more stressed.

“Never Mind” I said in calm tones,

I felt danger ahead in my bones,

The sight of his gun

had spoiled my fun,

I’d rather take my chance with unknowns.

So I ran into the forest to hide,

for there one thing I could never abide

and that’s mayhem released,

from drunk man or beast,

It’s always best to avoid homicide.

Puddle-Jumping – A Limerick

You said that it’s really auspicious
To jump in a puddle, I’m feeling judicious
Your language is such,
That I doubt it so much,
But then I’ve always been over suspicious.

You said that it’s really auspicious

to jump in a puddle? I’m suspicious.

Your language is such,

that I doubt it so much,

I think your claim is purely fictitious.

So now I’m wondering which you think is best?

Divorce Pending – A Saturday Limerick

In a diaphanous, silk negligee

The wife stood in the hall doorway,

She demanded some passion

And in imperious fashion

He said “I’ll pencil you in for Thursday”.

My Indulgencies – A Limerick

This was written in response to Esther Chilton’s weekly challenge.

See here:

The challenge is to write a story or poem or Limerick about your favourite indulgences.

So here you go:

A Couple of Scones with Jam and cream

is my favourite indulgent dream

But it makes me quite fat

and I’m quite worried that,

I’m in danger of bursting a seam.

A Serendipitous Limerick

There was a young fellow from Cromer

Who was a bit of a roamer

He left lots to chance,

a serendipity dance

and ended up King of the Roma.
