Mystery Blogger Award Nomination

I have been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award by Laura of https://lavent69.blog/

See the link to the post here:

I strongly recommend you pop along and visit her blog and say a big hello from me.

Thank you for nominating me, Laura.

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?
“The Mystery Blogger Award is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.” – Okoto Enigma

The Rules:
1. Put the award logo on your blog.
2. List the rules.
3. Thank whoever nominated you and include a link to their blog.
4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link to their blog as well.
5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
6. Nominate 10-20 people.
7. Notify your nominees.
8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice, specifying one weird/funny question.
9. Share a link to your best post(s).

3 Things about me:

  1. I can play the Irish Tin Whistle
  2. I’m addicted to Goats Cheese.
  3. I’ve never been to Disneyland.

Questions from Laura

  1. What is your favourite wildlife animal?
  2. How long have you been blogging?
  3. Share something funny that you have had happen in life.
  4. Your favourite blog that might not have received a lot of attention.
  5. Favourite blog by a fellow blogger.

My Answers

  1. I love lots of animals, I don’t really have a favourite. I am very fond of my pet Chickens, Adelaide, Angelica, Esmerelda and Maggie. I also like the cheeky Robin that keeps following me around the garden, and sneaks into the chicken run and steals their food.
  2. I started blogging on the 7th of March 2018, So I am fast approaching my Anniversary. I had absolutely no experience of blogging before that. It has been an exciting learning curve. I still don’t have the best-designed blog, and I still struggle with layout and things, but I am really pleased with how things have turned out. For me to continue doing this for a year is just unheard of, I usually lose interest in a few months!
  3. When I was a few years younger than I am now, I went to the Eden Project in Cornwall and there was a group of Schoolgirls (young teens) from France there. They kept looking over at me and giggling then one came over to me and said: “Excuse me, are you Kevin Costner?” I couldn’t believe it. They asked me for my autograph despite me telling them that I wasn’t. He is a bit older than me, but I was still surprised to be compared to a Hollywood heartthrob.
  4. There are lots of blogs out there that I admire greatly, but I don’t know if they are getting lots of attention or not. I find it hard to winnow all those great ones and choose just one. This one is one that I like a lot: https://wideeyedwanderingspoonie.wordpress.com/
  5. I can’t choose just one favourite, I have so many. The Britchy One from Bitchin in the Kitchen, Rory A Guy Called Bloke, Teresa, The Haunted Wordsmith and Mel from Crushed Caramel, to name just a few, plus, of course, the ones I am nominating.

3) Tell your readers 3 things about yourself

4) Answer the questions from the person who nominated you

5) Nominate 10-20 bloggers [Not Adhering to] you feel deserve the award

6) Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice with one weird or funny one

7) Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog

Here are the questions that Rory asked:

My 5 Questions

  1. Tick or Tock, which is best that describes your personality and why? – I’d say Tock, I am very much more of a Tock than a Tick. I do my own thing, but am strangely conformist at the same time. I conform to many social norms, but only because I want to and not because they are ‘norms’ and if I feel obliged to do something, I often don’t do it.

2) With regards Passion Fashion and Fabric which is your go to for 199% comfort – Rubber, Silk, Canvas, Pollycotton, Linen, Jersey, Crepe, Lycra,Lace, Velvet or simply all bare – and why? – I am 199% in favour of natural fibres. I detest Polyester, it stops the skin from breathing. I would like to like Wool more but it makes me itch so I can’t really be too fond of that. In winter time, I love my corduroy trousers, nice and snugly warm. I also like Cotton and Linen, natural all the way but not au-naturelle 😉

Talking about au-naturelle, there has been a lot of discussion of late about people in the nude, naked skiing and other activities. Well here is a picture of me learning to walk on water in New Zealand a few years ago.

3) What is the routine you undertake each day when you log into WordPress before you start to create a post? –

I check to see how many views I had the day before, then i go through and respond to all the comments that I’d missed that had come through overnight.

4) What is your best time of the day – night, morning, afternoon, dusk or dawn and why, what makes it special for you?

Mid-morning is usually my best time. I’m not an early bird nor a night owl, so between 9am and midday is probably the best time of day for me.

5) What is an ideal Christmas day for you and your family if relevant?

Growing up Christmas Eve was always the family gathering, because one of my Uncles has a birthday on Christmas Eve. We would gather round, enjoy a christmas buffet that my Aunt put on and then swap presents.

Christmas day was always quieter. My Mum always cooked Turkey, which is common in the UK but I have always detested it. It just tastes like a load of nothing. So now, since leaving home, I keep Christmas day as a quiet day and cook a Christmas Dinner with something other than turkey. I might do some Lamb, I love lamb or Venison. This year I am having Goose. Traditionally Goose and/or Beef was eaten on Christmas day in the UK, at least by those who could afford them. Then Turkey came over from the States and being a bigger bird, could feed a family much cheaper and so it became the norm…But not for me.

I always do Roast Potatoes and Parsnips, Sage and Onion stuffing, lots of green vegetables and Yorkshire Puddings. Got to have Yorkshire Pudding on Christmas day. Luckily I am a fairly capable cook.

Three Things about me.

  1. My Name is Kristian
  2. I hate Turkey (The foodstuff)
  3. I Love Yorkshire Puddings.

My Questions:

  1. How do you spend your December the 25th?
  2. Do you like Brussels Sprouts?
  3. Have you ever had Figgy Pudding, as in the song, We Wish you a Merry Christmas?
  4. Is it likely you’ll have Snow on Christmas Day?
  5. Do you have any Holidays/Vacations planned for next year?

So Who do I Nominate? ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TAKE PART.

Happy Christmas, Chanukah, Diwali and Yule, any other celebration that you have around this time of year.

Mystery Blogger Award

WHAT IS THE “MYSTERY BLOGGER AWARD”? :

“The Mystery Blogger Award is an award for unique bloggers with witty messages. The blog not only captivates but inspires and motivates. They are one of the best bloggers that exist, and they deserve all the recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who have fun and inspire people in their blogs; and they do it with love and passion.”

Creator: Okoto Enigma

The prize is called ‘Mystery Blogger Award’ because the meaning of ‘Enigma’ is ‘mystery’, so it bears the name of its creator. In addition, it is a very appropriate name because there are many blogs that are still a mystery for all of us and when we know them, they result in being extraordinary.

1. Put the award logo/image on your blog.

2. List the rules.

3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog. – Thanks, Sadje and Teresa. 🙂

4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.

5. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.

6. You have to nominate 10- 20 people.

7. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.

8. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify).

9.Share a link to your best post(s).

OK Three things about me:

  1. My eyes have different colours in them. Mainly pale blue but with a dark blue surround and a golden brown around the pupil, this is apparently quite unusual.
  2. I can list every President of the United States from 1900 to the present and I’m not American.
  3. I have never eaten Lobster.

Mel’s Questions for me:

  1. IF YOU AND I WERE GOING TO DANCE TOGETHER – WHAT SONG WOULD IT BE TO? – Staying Alive by the BeeGees
  2. HAVE YOU MADE ANY CONFESSIONS IN YOUR BLOGGING POSTS ABOUT MOMENTS OF MADNESS IN YOUR LIFE OR TIMES YOU WERE ALMOST IN TROUBLE WITH THE AUTHORITIES? (I know that some of my nominees have shared a long list of their confessions already, so please do pick the most outrageous!) – I’ve mentioned this before by I once nearly got arrested for dancing in a pub carpark (someone reported me for behaving oddly) oh and I got a speeding ticket once. Apart from that I’ve either been really good, or not been caught yet, I’ll let you guess which. 🙂
  3. WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL OR MEMORABLE DISH YOU HAVE EVER EATEN? I went to an Ethiopian restaurant in London not knowing what to expect and it was marvellous!
  4. ARE THERE CHARACTERS FROM ANY MOVIES OR NOVELS THAT YOUR FRIENDS COMPARE YOU TO? Not really, I used to be told I ran like Forrest Gump.
  5. ARE THERE ANY QUALITIES YOU ADMIRE IN OTHER PEOPLE AND WISH YOU HAD TO A GREATER EXTENT? Bravery and Courage, I have very little myself.
  6. HAVE YOU ANY EXPERIENCE OF ACTING, SPEAKING, SINGING OR DANCING ON A STAGE? I sing all the time. I am singing in a choir to collect money for a cat charity this Christmas. I once sang (at school) in the choir on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
  7. APART FROM REMOVING ANY PARTICULAR POLITICIANS, IS THERE ANY ISSUE OR PROBLEM IN THIS WORLD THAT YOU FEEL PASSIONATELY YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE? – I would like people to be able to argue from opposing views without making personal attacks. We don’t have to think the same to be friends and if we think differently, that doesn’t have to make us enemies.
  8. IF I WERE TO MAKE YOU YOUR DREAM CAKE – WHAT WOULD THAT CAKE BE? – I like a nice plain sponge with apple and cream filling and No icing because I think that is sickly
  9. WHAT WOULD YOU LOVE TO SEE ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE NEWSPAPERS TOMORROW MORNING? (other than than any particular politician being abducted by aliens) –  Universal Cure for Cancer found.
  10. HAVE YOU EVER HAD AN INTERNET ROMANCE OR AN INTERNET CRUSH YOU WERE TOO SHY TO CONFESS? – That would be telling
  11. YOU ARE ON MY LIST OF NOMINEES BECAUSE YOU CONSISTENTLY MAKE YOUR POSTS INTERESTING, YOU ARE FULL OF PERSONALITY AND YOU SUPPORT THE BLOGGING COMMUNITY SO MUCH – BUT TELL ME, ARE YOU LIKE THIS IN REAL LIFE? – I am always me. I couldn’t be anyone else. I do adapt my personality to the situation, but I am always me.

Sadje’s Questions:

1. what is the more important thing for you, your day job or blogging? – Well currently I am on a Hiatus from working, if anyone out there would like to give me a job, then let me know 😉 so the answer is Blogging.

2. What are your plans for the coming year? – Getting a job. Writing more stuff. I have a planned holiday/vacation to Derbyshire for a long weekend at the end of January.

3. Has any of your blog post has received a surprise response? – I am surprised and pleased whenever i get a response. I’ve had a couple of responses asking me when I’m going to get published, which is nice.

4. A cat or dog, which one you have as a pet or would like to? – I’d love a chicken friendly dog.

5. What is one habit you want to give up? – I’m in a good place at the moment, the only thing would be worrying. I worry too much .

My Nominees:

If I have NEVER nominated you for anything and you’d like to take part in this, please consider yourself nominated, and accept my apologies for overlooking you in the past.

My Questions:

What Book have you recently read and liked?

Link to a post of someone else’s that you really liked (Just one please)

What do you like most about the place you live?

What would your ideal job be like?

Would you rather be a published author or a T.V  celebrity?

How do you like to spend your day on the 25th of December?

What are your plans for the coming year?

Did you make any new year resolutions in 2018 that you have kept?

What creature that doesn’t exist (either fictional or something that has become extinct) do you wish did exist?

What is one of your favourite films/movies from when you were a child?

How would your best friend describe you?

Happy Sunday and I hope you all have a lovely week. 🙂

So you may be asking – What is the Mystery Blogger Award? Well, since that covers one of the rules that I’m choosing to follow today – here is your answer!

“The Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

3 Things about me:

  1. I have a plum tree in the garden. It produces lots of plums which I usually make into jam, or Plum Cake.
  2. I am so old fashioned that lots of people tell me I was born in the wrong century. I embrace it.
  3. One day I would love to have a dog. Or maybe a pair of dogs, called Montie and Verdi….Maybe.

Questions
1.) Is it true cannibals don’t eat clowns because they taste funny?

No, in fact they eat the ones that tell bad jokes first.

2.) What is the weirdest thing someone has ever said about you before? (I had someone once tell me my eyes were ugly and that they looked like they were yellow with black holes in them – I think they were on something!)

About ten years ago I was visiting the Eden Project in Cornwall. There was a bunch of school kids visiting from France and one of the girls came up to me and asked me

“Excuse me, are you Kevin Costner?” in English with a French accent.

I of course said No I wasn’t and probably blushed.

Then she said. “Ahh, Yes you are, You are Kevin Costner.” And then she went back to her group and started talking in rapid and frantic French. Then the whole group surrounded me and too my photograph and asked if I would sign my autograph…

Now I have no idea what that was about, but somewhere in France is a kid with an autograph book, with ‘Kevin Costner’ written in it with my handwriting….

3.) You just died – write your obituary with only six words

All that Enthusiasm. What a Shame!

4.) Would you rather have skin that changes color based on your emotions or tattoos appear all over your body depicting what you did yesterday? And describe what that would look like on you today.

I already seem to have one of those faces that people can read and see my thoughts clearly laid out. I find that annoying! If I had tattoos that depicted what I did yesterday it would be me sitting at the computer typing, or me watering plants on my allotment.

5.) Where do all the missing socks really go?

I reckon they all go into a black hole and end up in a parallel universe. It was something that I was going to ask Dr. Stephen Hawking if ever I got the chance. Sadly I’m too late now. I’ll never know if my theory was correct.

My Questions

  1. If you had to paint a part of your body, what part and what colour would it be?
  2. If you could resurrect a Singer or a Band from the dead to perform at your next birthday party, which one would it be?
  3. What labour saving device would you like to be invented?
  4. What comes to your mind when I say “Overrated“?
  5. What crazy theory that’s really ‘Out there’ do you sort of think, might be right?

My Nominominees. (and I am not going to nominate 10 – 20 because I think that is WAY to excessive.)

4) Answer the questions from the person who nominated you

5) Nominate 10-20 bloggers you feel deserve the award (I am going to break this rule, because as my pal Britchy One, quite rightly says, it doesn’t make you feel special when you are one in 20. I will nominate about 8. I think that’s a good number)

6) Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice with one weird or funny one

7) Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog

Three things about me:

  1. I was born and bred in the English county of Essex. Some of you may have heard nasty things about the people from this county. Well, as with all generalisations, it might have a point….I’m biased though.
  2. I went to University in Aberystwyth in Wales, which means I have a huge soft spot for Wales. I also love Welsh cakes and Bara Brith – I may post recipes if people are interested…
  3. I suffer from many phobias. You name it, and I’m probably scared of it.

Answers to questions set by https://bitchininthekitchen.org/

1. You’re on an airplane. There’s an empty seat next to you and just as they’re about to close the doors a last minute passenger scampers in. He makes his way down the aisle to the only vacant seat, the aisle seat next to you. You look up and realise with horror that it’s…… who is it and why is it so dreadful?

Virtually any politician you can name. Politicians are a pretty loathsome bunch in general and I can’t really think of any I would want to sit next to. I can think a few dead ones, but none living.

2. If you could choose between changing the clocks forward and backward twice a year or having sequenced traffic lights that actually worked – which would you change?

Actually I want to do away with daylight savings altogether and fix the UK on British Summertime all year round, sod the farmers, I think this hour forwards/hour backwards thing is just a farce. I would also want a device that turns the traffic signals green whenever I approach.

3. What three subjects do you think should be taught in school?

a) I think Respect for each other and for different points of view should be taught.

b) I think that children should be taught about financial responsibility so that they never become victims of loan sharks.

c) I think they should be taught philosophy, because whatever situation you find yourself in, there is an ancient Greek philosopher who said something useful about it.

4. Which would you prefer to have in your car, heated seats or parking sensors if you could only have one?

I want a car that will fire missiles at people who cut me up or move lanes or turn without using their indicators.

5. If you could change the law would you have the death sentence or not and if yes, for what crimes?

This is all very serious…This is one of those questions that has an answer ‘in principle’ and one ‘in practice’. In Principle I would like all serial criminals to undergo psychoanalysis to see if they are psychopaths. If they are, then they should receive the death penalty in order to protect the rest of us. They will never be a functioning human being with empathy so they will remain a danger to society. Also serial rapists, murderers, those that incite acts of violence and terrorists should all be subject to the death penalty. In practice however, there have been so many instances where the process has failed and innocent people have been convicted for crimes they did not commit, that this means I am not so sure about the whole thing.

Agatha Christie said something about Crime and justice that I think is important:

https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/agatha_christie_124612

I always have a great deal more sympathy with the innocent victims of crimes, the people who are burgled, the mugged, the stabbed and murdered than I ever would the perpetrators of crime. They had a choice.

Gosh Far too serious….

Here are a few jokes to lighten the mood….

Q: What do lawyers wear to court?
A: Lawsuits!

 – We live in a society where pizza gets to your house before the police do.

 – A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

My Questions:

  1. What has been the most unexpected benefit you’ve found in Blogging
  2. What type of jokes do you find funny? Tell one of your favourites.
  3. Would you choose a holiday/vacation to a hot beach or a cool forest?
  4. If you were stuck on a desert island, what book would you like to have with you?
  5. What animal do you have the closest affinity with and why?

Mystery Blogger Award Nomination 2

 What is Mystery Blogger Award?
“This is an award for amazing bloggers with indigenous posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging and they do it with so much love and passion.” – Okoto Enigma

3 Things About Me:

  1. I only started blogging 7 weeks ago, on the 7th of March and had absolutely no blogging experience before that. That might explain why my blog is such a mess and really needs a tidy up.
  2. I absolutely detest the taste and smell of coffee. No Starbucks for me.
  3. I sing in the car, sometimes so loudly I get strange looks from people driving past.

Question set by A Guy Called Bloke:

If life was measured by a piece of string, how long would Infinity be?

Ermm… 42. Yep Definitely 42. Or maybe 27?

What do butterflies get in their stomach when they’re nervous?

Rumbaring Rhinos?

Is it illegal to kill an ant?

Only if there is a U in Ant.

Which ‘urban legend’ scares you the most?

That the world is ruled by a secret Lizard cult. It’s so plausible, it’s scary.

Of the following films, which would you say is the most fitting to be classed as totally Mysterious and more importantly … why?
Seven
Gone Girl
Eyes Wide Shut
Zodiac
Mulholland Drive
The Da Vinci Code
Orphan
Basic Instinct

I have only seen two of these films, and in Seven, great film though it is, you pretty much know who is doing it, so no mystery there, so I’ll have to go The Da Vinci Code because no one ever suspects the Englishman do they?

So, Confession time…Three things about me.

1) I once nearly got arrested for dancing in a pub car park.

Truth is often stranger than fiction.

I had been to visit one of my cousins the night before. she is a ballroom and latin dance teacher. She taught me a few steps of the Rhumba, Samba and Paso Doble. So the next morning I went to visit my Auntie but she wasn’t in. I parked in the Pub car park opposite and because I was bored, I decided to practise my dance steps, as you do (well apparently only I do). This was at 10 o’clock in the morning.

Then my Aunt came home and I went in for a cup of tea.

While we were sitting there, a police car came into her road with the sirens blazing and pulled up inches behind my parked car. Then the police began combing the area.

My Aunt’s Son, who was a special police constable, then came in and said that there had been a report that a maniac had been seen in the area. My Aunt looked at me, and I said “Well I was only practicing my dance steps”

“You were What?” She said.

I think it must have been the Paso Doble that did it….?

2) I learnt to play the Irish Tin Whistle on the ferry from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire. My dad bought if for me on the ferry and by the time we landed I had an audience around me and I was playing Molly Malone. I still like playing The Wild Colonial Boy, to this day.

3) I would rather have a big chunk of Cheddar cheese than a bar of Chocolate. Any day.

So that’s me in a nutshell.
Questions From https://confessionsofanirishprocrastinator.wordpress.com/

  1. What was your favourite cartoon as a kid? – I loved Bugs Bunny, Ulysses 31 and Dangermouse.
  2. What was the worst job you ever had? – I had a paper round and I think they gave me several rounds that no one wanted all stuck together because I had several roads but they were far apart. My Mum was concerned because I didn’t get home until late. She used to come and pick me up sometimes because I was gone for longer than she thought was right. Then I had to do the paper round on my birthday. I gave it up after that.
  3. If you went on Mastermind what would your specialty subject be? – Either Queen Elizabeth the First or The Simpsons, I seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of both.
  4. What was first CD you ever owned? – It was a classical music CD of The Planets by Gustav Holst, to this day I still love ‘Jupiter’ which is strange because that is supposed to be my ruling planet (if you believe such things).
  5. What would your funeral song be? – I have two. ‘Heaven must be missing an Angel’ by Tavares and ‘Come up and see me (make me smile)’ by Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.

My Questions:

  1. Would you prefer to Run like a Cheetah, Fly like an Eagle or Swim like a dolphin?
  2. Would you prefer to be able to Paint like Picasso, Write like Shakespeare or Sing like Sinatra (Frankie Boy, Old blue eyes)?
  3. If you could win a lifetime supply of something (not cash) what would it be?
  4. Name a song you like from the year you were born.
  5. What is your favourite character from a film?
