Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award is a non-official Award to the bloggers as a reward of wonderful work on their blogs. It’s just as important because it really reflects the good impact we can have on other people’s lives. Awards are important for the inspiration, towards the success of our fellow bloggers and especially newbie’s to become future “Stars“.

Sadje’s Questions;

  1. How much time do you allocate to your blog, daily?

I used to blog much more frequently than I do now. I try to blog for an hour or so in the evenings but now I feel so tired all the time, I’m lucky if I blog something every few days now.

2. Do you feel positive about the future of written blogs?

I think blogging is here to stay. There are some amazing blogs out there on the blogosphere, some truly inspirational people.

3. What is more important to you regarding your blog;

Views

Followers

Comments?

I like to get views and likes and comments, but I blog because I need to write something now and then. I have found that there is a wonderful and encouraging blogging community that even when I don’t feel much like blogging, they keep me coming back.

4. What types of blogs you are more likely to read?

Creative writing blogs, mainly, but I also enjoy blogs that make you think.

5. How do you think a blogger can inspire others in the blogosphere?

Inspiration can come from anywhere; if a blogger writes then that will inspire others. It is also good to read, like and encourage others.

My Questions

  1. Do you find you are more creative at certain times of the day?
  2. What particularly inspires you?
  3. What do you find challenges you the most?
  4. What has surprised you the most about blogging?
  5. If you were to give a new blogger some advice, what would it be?

My Nomination:

  1. A Guy Called Bloke:

Can I Ask You A Question?

2. Angie, of KingBensGrandma

Happy Blogging 🙂

Bloggers Recognition Award Nomination.

Well, I am proud, over the moon and chuffed to bits to have been nominated for this award by a blogger that I have such high regard for, who I have collaborated with a number of times writing several poems; Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess.

Blogger Recognition Award

The Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
2. Write a post to show your award.
3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
5. Select 15 other bloggers for this award.
6. Comment on each blog to let them know you’ve nominated them and a link to the post you created.

How my Blog Started.

Well, It all began back in March 2018. It was on the 7th of March to be precise. I have been writing stories and poems for years but I had never shared my work or sought feedback before. For a Christmas Present, some friends bought me a 6-week creative writing course at the CityLit college in London. Having enrolled on this course I found that my urge to write became insatiable. Before I wrote once in a while but after I started writing daily. It was like an explosion. I decided that I needed to have a place to put all the stuff coming out of my mind. I entered a competition and I didn’t get anywhere but in the feedback, I was given a link to WordPress. I am naturally a bit of a technophobe but I had a go and created my blog. I have not looked back since. It has been a wonderful experience and I wish I had started much earlier. The blogging community has been really helpful and supportive. I have made some excellent blogging pals.

Since then I have written a lot of short stories and lots of poems. In the last few months, I have slowed down a bit and am not currently blogging as much but I hope that with the energy that comes with the New Year, I will start writing more again.

Advice or Guidance

  1. Blog about something that you love and just keep going, followers will come.
  2. Don’t worry if you can’t keep up with the rate of other bloggers. Write when you can and when you feel like it.

My Nominees:

This is always the bit I find hard, not because of a lack of people I think deserve it, it’s because there are SO many wonderful bloggers out there putting their heart and soul into everything they do that it is difficult to choose.

My thoughts are that if you are reading this then please consider yourself nominated. You Deserve it.

And also, as we draw near, I hope you have a lovely Christmas or whatever way you spend the darkest days of Winter.

Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination

I have been nominated for this Sunshine Blogger award by the lovely Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess and we call can do with a bit of sunshine at this time of year (except you Southern Hemisphere inhabitants or those closer to the equator). 🙂

Click on Beckie’s post here:

Sunshine Blogger Award

About Sunshine Blogger Award:
It is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

The Rules:

a. Nominate 11 people and notify them via comment.
b. Ask them new 11 questions.
c. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
d. Display the award logo on your blog post.
e. Answer the 11 questions asked

Beckie’s Questions:

1. Do you search for difficult words in your writing? like I do. I have to search for meaning.

No, I do not look up difficult words to use in my writing. I use words that I commonly use in speech.

2. What do you prefer tea or coffee? For any specific flavour, please mention the same.

I detest coffee but I drink tea, properly made in a teapot. The tea I tend to have is Assam which isn’t a flavour of tea, tea is a leaf from the Camellia Sinensis plant and Assam is a region in India which grows it. Tea takes on characteristics depending on where it is grown and Assam tea is known for its strong malty taste. I take my tea with milk but no sugar.
3. Most of the time, I am found writing while walking to and fro in my room, on my phone’s notepad. Do you like writing on phones or tablets or laptops?

No

4. Where would you like to live, if not the current country?

I couldn’t imagine living anywhere other than England. Despite the weather and the overcrowding, I don’t think I could call anywhere else home.

5. How many books do you have in your own library?

Too many to count, so more than four.

6. Have you participated in any protests for any social cause? Which one and why?

No

7. A motivating line of your own, if this was an award given to you on stage.

Thank you to everyone who considers me worthy of this award. You’re all fabulous, Thank you and keep reading my blog. 🙂

8. What genre do you prefer in movies?

I prefer movies or films that transcend genres. The best films have elements of both humour and tragedy. I do have a soft spot for musicals.

9. Are you a bathroom singer?

I sing in the shower and in the living room and also when driving my car. This time of year I sing a lot of Christmas Carols.

10. How do you spend your Sunday?

Cleaning out the chickens, a bit of housework and then a long soak in the bath ready for Monday.

11. Do you like watching TV? What do you prefer watching?

I don’t watch a lot of TV, I find most TV programmes at the moment extremely banal, but I do enjoy a documentary or an old sitcom, like Blackadder (if you don’t know what Blackadder is, you need to look it up).

So my Nominees:

We could all do with a bit of sunshine at the moment, so consider yourself nominated.

Questions for my nominees:

  1. What will you be eating on the 25th of December?
  2. Will you be making any New Year Resolutions?
  3. Where do you hope to be in 12 months time?
  4. If you could invite someone round to spend Christmas with you, who would it be?
  5. What do you think is the best way to bring unity to the world?
  6. What smell makes you feel at home?
  7. Can you play a musical instrument?
  8. Are you likely to see snow over the Christmas period?
  9. Do you like Turkey (The bird)?
  10. Is there a song or a piece of music that you like to listen to at this time of year?
  11. What is the best Present you’ve ever had?

So there you go, I hope you enjoy your Christmas and have lots of Sunshine too.

The Real Neat Award Nomination

I have been nominated for the real neat award by Sadje of the blog Keep it Alive, click below for the link:

My first Real Neat Award

The rules for the real neat blog award

  • Display the award logo.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.
  • Answer the questions from the blog who nominated you.
  • Nominate seven to ten bloggers.
  • Ask them seven questions.

So big thanks to Sadje for nominating me for this, I very much appreciate it 🙂

Sadje’s Questions:

  1. Where does blogging fits in your daily life?
  2. Have you ever tried to do;
    • a) Paragliding?
    • b) Horse riding?
    • c) Deep-sea diving?
  3. Do you celebrate your birthday?
  4. If you have free time at hand, would you go for a walk or a long drive?
  5. Your best friend calls in the middle of the night and asks you to meet them at a deserted place, will you go? BTW, this friend has known to pull pranks!

My Answers:

  1. Since starting my full-time job in May I have struggled to keep my blog going. I don’t blog as much as I used to, but I still manage to maintain a presence on the blogosphere and write some short stories and poems. I think if something means a lot to you, you will fit it in somehow, but you have to be realistic, there are only so many hours in the day.
  2. No, No and No. I have done some snorkelling in the past but I would rather go for a walk in the park or a trip to a museum than any of these activities.
  3. Yes and No. I usually celebrate my birthday on the closest Saturday to my actual birthday, but I don’t do anything big, like have a huge party. An afternoon tea or a trip to see a show, that would be enough.
  4. I’d go for a walk, or do some more blogging, or maybe go for a long drive in order to find a suitable place to go for a walk.
  5. I would ask a lot of clarification questions of my friend, before taking the plunge and go to meet them. I rarely go out in the middle of the night and I’d need a very good reason for it. Being my Best friend, they would know that.

Questions for my nominees:

  1. When were you last surprised, what happened?
  2. If you were to put together a time capsule that encapsulated your life right now, what three things would you put in it?
  3. If you could drive in any direction, what direction would you drive in?
  4. If you could choose a new name for yourself, what name would you choose?
  5. Would you prefer to live in a world where alcohol was free or where politicians were honest?
  6. What song would you play at a party in order to encourage people to leave?
  7. Who was a really good role model for you when you were a child?

So those are the questions. I’d like to nominate:

3 Things About Yourself!

  1. I’ve been to the Isle of Wight about 20 times.
  2. I have never been to New York
  3. I often sing Patsy Cline songs at the top of my voice.

My chosen post:

Last year, I thought I would try my hand a writing a story in the style of Agatha Christie, that brilliant crime writer of the 20th Century. Click on the link below to read my take on the Murder Mystery genre.

https://talesfromthemindofkristian.wordpress.com/2018/04/27/death-of-a-notable-a-murder-mystery/

Five Questions from Rory,

  1. Are we losing the art of listening in comparison to simply hearing?

there always were people who were more inclined to speak and only pause to think about what they are going to say next rather than listen to the other person. Are there more people like that now that before? I don’t know, maybe.

2. How often do you openly discuss with friends or here in WP with your readership topics that make you feel uncomfortable or maybe taboo or stigma laden?

My blog is to write fiction so I address difficult topics in my stories, I’ve written stories about murderers, psychotic killers and armageddon, but I don’t tend to directly talk about the problems that face us today, or politics or any other uncomfortable topics. Mine isn’t a current affairs blog, it’s about creative writing, but then art reflects life.

3. Do you think that these discussions should be freely discussed and written about more?

If that’s what your blog is about then, yes discuss away, we live in a free society where free speech is important.

4. Did you have a nickname as a child and if so, what was [or what is it now]?

I had and have lots of nicknames, I smile a lot so am often called ‘Smiler’ and not ironically. My name is shortened to Kris or sometimes, Krissy 😉 I also have various nicknames based on my surname. Call me anything you like, but call me, I’d hate to be ignored. 😉

5. Why is there still ‘stuff’ we simply just don’t understand despite our progressive world?

It would be a pretty boring world if we understood everything, the more we know the more we realise there is a lot more unknown out there to discover, and thank goodness for that!

My Questions for you:

  1. Where do you think all the things that are lost go to?
  2. If we go forward in time far enough would we end up back at the beginning?
  3. What is the greatest mystery that you would like to know the answer to?
  4. Do you think we’ll ever find intelligent life in space?
  5. Do you think we’ll find it on earth?

“It’s an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. Rules:

  1. Put the award logo/image on your blog
  2. List the rules
  3. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well
  5. Answer the 5 questions you were asked
  6. Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  7. You have to nominate 10 – 20 people
  8. Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  9. Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question
  10. Share a link to your best post(s). (I’ve linked to the two posts I have worked with Beckie on above, and I’m really proud of the results)

Three Things About Me:

  1. I work for the National Health Service as a Data Analyst and I have never worked with so many truly dedicated people before (no insult intended to any previous work colleagues).
  2. I love writing and I’ll keep doing it, regardless of whether the results are any good or not.
  3. I have been blogging now since March 2018 and while I don’t have as much time to blog since starting my new job, I am still loving the process and I have nearly 1000 followers, which I am really excited about! Thank you to all of the people who have decided to follow me, and to all my regular readers, you keep me going (and kept me going last year when I was going through some dark times).

My Five Questions from Beckie:

  1. If you were to have one wish come true, what would it be? Hmm, It would probably be to get some kind of major recognition of my writing, a publishing contract for my stories or poems, that would be really lovely.
  2. What is the least favourite thing about yourself that you wish you could change? – My constant anxiety, I wish I stopped worrying about things and just lived!
  3. What was the last funniest thing to happen to you? – I’ve probably told this story before, but I once nearly got arrested for dancing in a car park. I had been to visit my cousin who teaches Latin and Ballroom dancing, and she’d taught me a few steps, then I went to visit my Aunt for tea, and she’d just popped out, so while I was waiting, I decided to practice my dance steps. It was broad daylight and I wasn’t drunk or anything. It seemed to make perfect sense to me. Anyway, my Aunt returned and we had a nice cup of tea. meanwhile a police car, lights blazing, pulled into the car park, blocked my car in and began searching the area. Apparently, a neighbour had seen me and reported that there was a lunatic in the area! I remain at large 😉
  4. What was your favourite subject in school? –  I enjoyed Geology and History. A lot depended on the teacher. If I got on well with them, then I enjoyed learning, if not, then it was torture.
  5. Weird/Strange Question… If you could have dinner with anybody (Dead or Alive) who would that be, and what would you like to ask them? – There are so many people. I’d love to have dinner with our Current Queen because she is such an interesting and intelligent person, I’d love to find out what she really thinks about things. I’d also love to chat with lots of dearly departed. Film stars, like Margaret Lockwood, Margaret Rutherford and Greer Garson (and if you’ve heard of them, I’m impressed!).

My Questions for my nominees:

  1. Did you have any childhood goals and have you achieved them?
  2. What is something you have always wanted to do but never have?
  3. What is something you are proud of?
  4. What is your favourite film/movie?
  5. Because I loved Beckie’s question so much, I’m going to copy hers. Weird/Strange Question… If you could have dinner with anybody (Dead or Alive) who would that be, and what would you like to ask them?

So this is the bit I find so hard because there are so many bloggers I admire, Beckie’s already nominated a lot of them, also there are a lot of great bloggers who do not accept awards, and I worry that if I nominate them, they’ll get annoyed at me. This fills me with a great deal of anxiety. I am going to pick some lovely bloggers who have been very supportive of me, and hope they will forgive me if they do not do these things.

The Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination

I am thrilled, Chuffed to bits and generally over the mood to have received a nomination for the Sunshine Bloggers Award from none other than Stuart L Tutt of the Blog Something to Stu over. Click on the link below to view his post and while your there, check out his blog and say Hi from me.

https://stubaby777.wordpress.com/2019/07/17/the-sunshine-blogger-award-2019-5th-nomination/comment-page-1/#comment-11801

RULES:

1. Use the sunshine blogger award logo

2. Give thanks to the blogger that nominated you

3. Answer the 11 questions given to you

4. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions

The Questions:

1. What, in your opinion, is the most majestic of all God’s creation?

The World itself.

2. Are you a read the book type of person or a wait for the movie type?

Depends. I tend to enjoy both mediums separately. I have never felt the need to read the book if I enjoyed the film or vice versa.

3. What topic do you feel is the least discussed but the one most needed one to be discussed?

How are children being taught about respect? Respecting themselves and each other. Respect is so important.

4. Do you prefer hanging out with a group of friends around a fire or chilling alone by a lake?

I am not great with crowds but I am not great on my own. I’d probably like to be with a select small group of very close friends. Or alone but with a special someone by a lake.

5. What inspires you to keep blogging?

Habit and the need to empty my brain of the words that are buzzing around inside it.

6. Do you believe the world is going to hell in a handbasket? Why?

It is a complicated picture, many things in the world are actually improving, the media, of course, shine a light on all the bad stuff. There is plenty of bad stuff going on too.

7. If you are a Christian, would you be willing to write your testimony as a blog post?

I don’t understand this question. Maybe I’m not Christian enough to understand. I believe in God but don’t believe that much of the prescribed religious practices are necessary at all.

8. If you have written your testimony would you be so kind as to send the link?

9. What is the current colour of your kitchen?

Pale cream coloured walls, pale green tiles and a mock green granite worktop.

10. What is your dream car?

One that won’t break down and will get me from A to B in comfort and without fuss.

11. Where did the phrase “by the skin of my teeth” originate?

The King James Version Bible. It is an excellent phrase that also displays good British wit, the skin of the teeth, i.e by the smallest of margins because, of course, there is no skin on teeth.

Blogger Recognition Award Nomination

I am very proud and pleased as punch to have been nominated for this blogger recognition award by the lovely Laura Venturini of Lauravent69 blog. Check out her post here:

The Blogger Recognition Award

and don’t forget to check out her blog and say Hi from me. 🙂

AWARD RULES

  • Thank the nominator, and publish a post on your blog about receiving the Blogger Recognition Award. Make sure to provide a link to the nominator’s blog in your post.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Nominate 10-15 other bloggers for this award, and inform them of their nomination.

How I started:

I started blogging in March 2018, having had no experience of blogging whatsoever.

I have always had an interest in creative writing and have enjoyed writing fantasy stories and the odd poem. In January 2018 I attended a six-week creative writing course in the City Lit Academy in London, and this really opened up the floodgates of my creative mind. Instead of writing something now and then, I began writing something every single day. I found the experience both Awesome and awe-inspiring. Having my writing read and commented on by my fellow writers was an experience that I found really helpful to me. It helped to dispel any sense of lack of self-worth. It made me want to share my material with an even wider audience. I also wanted somewhere to keep my written material. I decided to write a blog.

I called it Tales from the Mind of Kristian because that is what it really is. It is the creative brain burps of my mind. I am happy to share them with you.

I hope you like them.

Two pieces of advice for new bloggers.

  1. Do what you love, write what you love, as long as you love it and are enjoying it, what everyone else thinks is really not important.
  2. Keep doing it. The more you write the better it will get.

The New Creative Mind Award – Created by The Haunted Wordsmith (and she nominated me, I’m SO Proud).

CreativeMindAward

Teresa at The Haunted Wordsmith has created two new awards, one for blogs that are full of creative writing posts, the Creative Mind Award, and another, the From the Heart award for bloggers who primarily focus on personal stories.

AND She NOMINATED ME!!!! For one of the Creative Mind Awards.

I AM SO chuffed. Thank You Haunted Wordsmith, I am so over joyed.

How is this award different? It comes with no rules, you don’t have to answer 20 questions and nominate 20 more blogs, or reveal 20 facts about yourself.

It therefore doesn’t take ages to respond to.

It is just an award that shows you are appreciated and as such, I am thrilled.

The only hard part is thinking of blog to pass it on to, because I admire so many.

As there is a separate award for blogs that write personal stories, I will concentrate on other creative writers.
