The Empathy of Aliens – A multiple Word Prompt Story.

I wrote this story back in July 2018. So much has happened since!

The Empathy of Aliens

‘When did it all go wrong?’ General Anderson asked herself.

‘We started off trying to defend our freedom and independence but somehow along the way we have lost ourselves.’

She didn’t voice those concerns out loud. She was sitting at a desk and opposite her was a representative of the enemy. This alien species that had come from nowhere to take over the earth, or reclaim it, so they said. They were tall and willowy with huge heads and pointed craniums. They claimed to have come to earth 6000 years before and had taught the earthlings about agriculture, farming, irrigation and how to build great monuments. They claimed to have taught the Mayans, the Egyptians and other ancient civilisations all their secrets.

Multiple Word Prompt Story – Striving for Peace

This story was written a while ago but I thought it should get another airing.

It was inspired by the following word prompts:

Word of the Day: Striving; Duck

FOWC with Fandango — Compound

Striving for Peace

“you’re trying to duck the issue, what can that stuff actually do?”

“Look It’s just a simple compound. It can’t do anything.”

She held up a sealed phial of liquid between her blue latex gloved fingers. The look on her lovely face was calm and composed but there was a light of something in her eyes. A certain fervour, determination and a detachment from reality. It was a scary combination.

The committee for the regulation of dangerous substances was in full session. The committee consisted of some of the brightest minds in science and a few politicians who were the ones who sounded like they knew the most.

The Minister for public health asked his question again.

“We know you have been working on this for some time. What is your purpose? What do you hope to achieve?”

“I hope to achieve peace” she replied in her soft, light voice.

Victory in Europe day – 75 years since the end of WWII in Europe. Time for a Sing Song

Image may contain: 1 person, crowd and outdoor

So, 75 years ago today it was Victory in Europe day, V.E day. That’s a fact.

The war in the far east rattled on for a few more months, but the war in Europe was finally over and peace was restored.

Seeing the crowds gathering in the streets to celebrate the end of a long and desperate war must have been a sight to behold.

To celebrate I have recorded new versions of two wartime classics.

A Final Call – A Poem for Kira’s Sunday Scribbles

Of care and nurture, there is a dearth,

Though some instil some peace on earth,

But indecision from government’s elect,

May mean there’s not much Earth left to protect.

Soul Nourishment

“To Kneel and nourish the soul,

Is to receive the very best of meals.” – An Original quote from me.

“Let not religion divide us, the root of all religious and spiritual thought is peace and love, let that core truth unite us all.”

A list of regrets – A poem

This poem was written for The Haunted Wordsmith’s Genre Challenge,

Today’s challenge was to write a list poem.

I have also included the following word prompts:

FOWC with Fandango — Extra

A List of Regrets

I picked up the book you kept by your bed

I turned to the page, the last that you’d read,

I saw that you’d written a word on that page

I wish I’d not let the sun set on our rage.

The word that you’d written, next to the crease,

Was something you longed for, the simple word ‘Peace’.

Now I gather together the last of your things,

The book by the bed, your watch and some rings.

I realise with regret and remorse, I delayed,

Signing the treaty of peace that you’d made.

I wish I could call extra time on the past

And renew the love between us we thought that would last.

Now I sit here and list all the things in my head

Things that I’ll remember now that you’re dead.

What do you See? April/09/2019

In natures garden, I stand serene

My mind alert, my senses keen,

Joined hand in hand with kindred hearts

We dance around while hate departs.

Those who taunt to bedevil our aims

Who bring their hatred and their flames

Will not deter us from our path

We eschew the ways of the sociopath.

a sensible ideology,

Peace and love is our theology,

Twittering Tales #114 – More precious than Gold – A tale in less than 280 characters.

A Rainbow had shown them the target as It shone on the hollow old tree.

“Come on,” said Jake to Tom “Let’s see if it’s true about finding gold at the end of a rainbow.”

They dug for hours.

It provided their Mother with something more precious than gold. A bit of peace and quiet.

This story was written for Kat Myrman’s weekly challenge see link below:

This story also contains the word prompt: Target

And by a touch of coincidence or divine providence, this story is also appropriate for another picture challenge that I only discovered today:

Multiple Word Prompt Poem – Dreams Vs Reality.

This poem was inspired by the following word prompts:

Dreaming, possible, peace

Dream, Free, Pageant, Kinky.

Dreams VS Reality

Dreaming of a world at peace

A world where wonders never cease

A world where pain and poverty decrease

When will my dream become real?

Nothing kinky or perverse

Would make my yearnful feelings worse

Yet progress may in time reverse

Without true inner strength and zeal.

A pageant play with smiles of glee.

May make my inner torment flee,

But any relief is only temporary

respite, from what I’m free to feel.

Is it possible these peaceful dreams?

When nothing is quite what it seems.

And people turn to the extremes,

Only time alone will reveal.

What are dreams and what is real.

100 Word Story – Friday Fictioneers – The Peace that water gives.

PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson

I always had a fear of water and of drowning.

Life has changed that.

I gazed at that crystal blue mountain stream and listened to the melody as the water gushed over the rocks to collect in the shallow pool below.

The sound soothed that inner torment. I felt a sense of peace.

Life had overwhelmed me; made me realise that fear of drowning, fear of death was nothing compared to my fear of living.

I plunged head first into the freezing water.

Was it possible to drown in shallow water?

It is when you refuse to struggle any more.
