Soul Nourishment

“To Kneel and nourish the soul,

Is to receive the very best of meals.” – An Original quote from me.

“Let not religion divide us, the root of all religious and spiritual thought is peace and love, let that core truth unite us all.”

50 Word Thursday – Soul Harvest

This story was written for the 50 Word Thursday challenge that I posted last week, see the link below:

The challenge is to write a story limited to 50 word increments up to a maximum of 250 words, inspired by a picture and including some words.

Here is the picture

And the Words:  “she added, hopefully, “how many things with angels on them are there here?” – Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

 Soul Harvest

Hecate smiled at her black cloaked companion and said “This place looks promising” she added, hopefully, “how many things with angels on them are there here?”

A dark voice replied “Quite a few. The fools believed that they kept the souls of their dear departed safe. Much as I dislike humanity, you’ve got to laugh at its quirks.” The sound that came from deep within the shadowed hood was not like any laughter you’d expect. For all that it echoed around the cemetery, it was devoid of any warmth.

Hecate pulled her own velvet cloak around her. The other figure saw her gesture and responded “I trust that you are not having second thoughts, it’s too late to back out now. You know what’s at stake if you do”.

“No, I want to live again, you promised you could bring me back to life.”

“Indeed, I did and I will. I just need to find a suitable soul to harvest. I do so enjoy harvesting lost souls.”

He drifted further down the row of ornately decorated gravestones.

“Ah, this one will do, nicely,” he said.

Hecate felt a sudden burning inside her as the Soul Harvester carried out his work.

[200 Words]

It’s not too late if you want to take part in this challenge. I will be gathering together all the responses and posting them tomorrow (Wednesday) and a new 50 word thursday challenge will begin again on Thursday, this week hosted by Teresa, the Haunted Wordsmith.

Adventurous Soul – A very short poem.

To Travel on life’s adventurous road,

with the wind in my sails and feeling freed,

after years of being trapped, my passage, slowed

I’m determined to go forward with all God’s speed.

There’s no greater delight for our struggling soul,

than to finally see the light and achieve a substantial goal.

A Hidden Heart – A Short Poem

” A Hidden Heart Provides No Comfort.

A pure soul spent in contemplation,

feeds no hungry and heals no sick.

Helping others is our only redemption.”

He wore hatred like a camouflage

In this world so full of tormented souls,

to blend in and hide his heretic heart,

from those devoutly damned dark trolls.

To survive he wrapped his cloak around him

And hid deep inside, his compassionate core.

So no one knew his kind, warm nature,

Another callous creature was all they saw.

With no one to go to, no one to care,

thus, mankind was doomed asunder.

A civilisation once dwelt there

Now no one can recall that wonder.

Callously Ended – An unkind poem.

This is an unkind poem inspired by the prompt words:

Word of the Day: Dalliance

Three things Challenge: Puffer Fish, Soul, Staring

This is not a reflection of my character and I hope no one ever says anything this unkind to you.

So you thought this was love?

Good heavens above!

But I never said it was so.

It was just a dalliance

a one-off alliance

now it’s time for you to go.

OK, so I’m cold

and callous, unfeeling

Maybe I just have no Soul

I never promised you more,

you’re being a bore,

I never wanted that role.

You got it all wrong,

You need to be strong

You really need to let go.

Stop staring at me

now you’ve paid your fee

make like a puffer fish and blow.
