A Tuesday Writing Prompt poem – Dreaming of Scarlet.

The challenge was to write something containing the phrases “red-painted lips” and “Silken Hair”.

Here was my attempt:

With her long silken hair
and her body laid bare
she had a beauty that none could eclipse.

She had eyes of bright green
that you’d just never seen
a scarlet smile with red-painted lips.

But alas it would seem
it was only a dream
as I sit up in bed all awake

That’s the last time I look
at a romantic book
before sleep, now I know my mistake.

I have also included the word of the day: Scarlet.

I’m SO gullible!

“Look at the water” said Fred.

Then he pushed me in.
