In Velvet Dreams – A Nostalgic Ghostly Tale

As you may know, I am currently taking a break, but wanted to share some of my earliest posts with you, that you may have missed.

This was the first ghost story I ever wrote on the 5th of April 2018.

Quite appropriate now as Halloween was yesterday.

All the best 🙂

In Velvet Dreams

He couldn’t believe it. Ever since he was a little boy, he always wanted one of those grand Victorian houses, like the one in Mary Poppins. With the house prices in London sky high he could see his dream getting further and further away. It was surprising, but here it was for sale, the House of his dreams.

He worked as a freelance journalist and so money was not flowing and sometimes the stream dried up completely for a short time. He had just come to the end of a lucrative contract and he had saved every penny, living mainly on baked beans just so he could get the biggest deposit he could. He was quite lucky in that his Uncle owned the flat he lived in, in Clapton, and so he paid minimal rent.

Love Expired – A comedy poem

He took her to his favourite spot

The day was bright, the sun was hot,

She knew he liked to walk a lot

But she was getting tired.

They reached the zenith of the peak

It seemed she’d trekked for about a week,

And now the sweat streamed down her cheek

The walk was not what she’d desired.

Breathtaking views greeted her eye

velvet green forests, azure blue sky

but still, she turned and asked him why

“Why drag me up here?” she inquired.

Then he realised his big mistake,

The gaffe he’d made and what was at stake,

He should have honeymooned by a lake

or on a yacht, he could have hired.

Rather than this mountain that he admired.

And so like, life, their love expired.

The challenge was created by Rory, A guy called bloke, see his post here:

321 Quote Me – Expression

Thank you, Paula, for thinking of me. I apologise for not posting this as promptly as I would have liked.

The Rules:

  • Thank the Selector
  • Post 2 quotes for the dedicated Topic of the Day.
  • Select 3 bloggers to take part in ‘3.2.1 Quote Me!’

Rory says “Please Note l will be reblogging your responses unless you wish for me to NOT do so.”

Dedicated Topic For Today: ”Expression”

The word of the day is Velvet, so I wanted to find an interesting expression including the word Velvet. I found two.

Firstly is an old expression that was used as a humorous name for a Mole.

 – the little gentleman in the velvet coat

mole-13299_640

Secondly is an expression for a situation that is undesirable or unfulfilling but provides enough financial security to make someone unwilling to leave.

 – velvet handcuffs

Finally, a quote from me:

“The greatest expression of all is to have the freedom of it.”

You can quote me on that.

So, Who shall I nominate to take part in this challenge?

Well, here are three, if they wish to take part.
